Tell me about it.
I did all of my falling out of trees when I was young. You lose your wind and when you get it back you sit with your dog for a bit.

My big ouchy came in mid 40s. I hurt my left pec showing a kid how to bring a sprawling opponent's right leg in using a single arm. I babied and rehabbed it for 6 weeks. I was in the weight room and the pec/arm felt like it healed and I thought I would give it a test drive. Doing inclines I started light and progressed up the ladder. Finally put 225 on and popped off several reps which seemed to be easy, so I kept going. Rep number 9 was still easy so I did the 10th. Number 10 shredded the pec and left upper arm. Thank God the kid spotting me took spotting seriously and was/still is as big as a house.

Any chance someone can post what a US Open Senior or U20 championship or placement qualifies the wrestler for?

Strange thing for the 65 kg winner as Maple or Kolodzik will be the 1-seed at the wtt's and then likely Yianni, McKenna and Lee with the 4. Works out well for Lee that the three of them sat out the open.

Is the winner of the open the automatic 1 seed? That seems like a raw deal for all the studs who were already qualified. I’d think Yianni, Nick and Joey might all be seeded higher than these two.

Yeah it would be great if someone would break down how this year will go down.
I'm going to WTT in Coralville in May.
I think I read that champs can not sit in final X this year, so does that mean they have to wrestle the whole tournament in May?

Also, are there any major surprises on guys who aren't yet qualified?

I'm pretty sure returning World and/or Olympic medalists are still sitting in Final X.

How are the Hawks doing? Lol
Lugo is the only former Hawk I could find in the brackets. Strange, because I don't think many of the others have qualified for the trials yet.

Maybe I'm wrong on that. Are Brooks, Sorensen, or any of the recent grads qualified?

Brooks is done. Sorensen has leukemia. Lugo is kind of their only guy right now until the seniors from this year heal up.

US OPEN: ONE STOP SHOPPING AGAIN:

*
Howard via Injury Default over Figs.
* Steen over Knopick 8-2. Workman-like win.
* Haines with a TD and turn leads 4-1 at the break. Haines with roll for 4 and a turn.....Leads 10-2. Munro team challenging. Munro loses challenge and point.....Haines wins 11-1. Nice Turn around.
* Mason Gibson wins 2-0
* Jordan Stoudt selected by the Ravens in the 4th round. Baltimore has SIX picks in the 4th round
* Sam Herring with a 1st period 10-0 tech.
* Dalton Perry with a pretty brutal 10-0 tech in the 1st. That one 4 was quite loud
* Howard with a double and coverts for 4 and a turn.....6-0. Howard with another TD 8-0 at the break. Scoreless 1st minute after break. Strange sequence. Body locks....both go down. Ref says 2 for Steen I think. 4 goes on the board for Howard but Steen came out on top. Howard landed on his head and waves for time. The match ends with the score 12-0 Howard. I am more confused than normal :)
* Haines with a tilt using his legs 2-0. Adds another turn and gets reversed 4-1. Scramble...Haines exposes his back 4-3. Haines Td 6-3 at the break. Haines TD on the edge 8-3. Haines breaks him down for TD 10-3. Haines TD and Exposure for a 14-3 tech over Fields
* Howard up against Cooper Flynn. Scoreless first 1:20. Flynn on the clock. Flynn with TD...2-0. Body locks. The taller Flynn comes out on top. Now 6-0 at the break. Scoreless 1st 1:30. Body Locks.....this time Howard gets the 4. 6-4. Howard grabs his right shoulder and goes down to his knees. NOOO. Looks like a stinger. After 2 minutes they start up. Howard gets the double unders they both go down....Howard gets on top for 4. Holds him there to win 8-6! BOOM!... Howard will wrestle for 3rd
* Haines vs Jack Tomsen. Haines with a TD........30 seconds later another TD. Haines leads 4-0. Haines appears to get brief exposure, No call. DT challenges...gets the 2. 6-0 at the break. Tomsen quick TD. Haines gets TD for 4. 10-2. Haines gets TD...wins 12-2 Haines will wrestle for 3rd
* Bassett wins a competitive opening match 11-5

* Nic Bouzakis is in the finals at 61Kg. No surprise but his semifinal match was a 7-6 win over Grice.
* Nick Feldman is also in the finals He won 2-1 in the Semis against Mora. All 3 points were passivity points. ZZZzzz
* Bassett with a 16-5 tech in 1:30 of the 1st over Sieminski.
* Gibson vs Williams: Williams put on the clock with 50 sec. Gibson works hard fot the TD...up 3-0 at the break. Gibson with a double leg and gets 2. 5-0 and Williams takes injury time. He turned akwardly to avoid exposure as he was put down hard. Looks like shoulder/ribs. Back at it. Williams gets TD 4-2. Gibson flips him over....9-2. Tried to turn him....injury again. Long delay....Back at it. Ends 9-2 Gibson
* Herring vs Gorman: WILD one. Challenges. tosses. more challenges. Herring was given 4 to take the lead 6-6 with about 15 seconds left. FLO Arena showed it 6-6. There was no scoreboard on FLO mat video. But they raised Gorman's hand so they must have changed it to a 2. 6-4 Gorman I think
* Pierson Manville with a 28 second pin to advance to the Quarterfinals at 65kg
* Tyler Kasak with a first period 11-0 tech over Acosta
* Robbie Howard with the quick dump to the back 4-0. Now 6-0. Robbie pins him 4 or 5 times......Ref finally calls the pin. Howard wins 3rd place. Spratley...who beat Robbie in the first round wins the finals 9-0. Robbie looked good
* NICO vs Rodriguez: First 90 sec. scoreless. Rodriguez on the clock. 1-0 Nico. Nico TD 3-0 at the break. Lots of hand fighting. Rodriguez gets 1 for stepout. Nico wins 3-1 US Open Champ!

* Cenzo vs McFadden: Cenzo gets TD and turn...4-0. TD McFadden. 4-2. Cenzo turs him with 8 sec. left and McFadden reverses 6-4 at the break. Body locks...run out and McFadden flips and hits head hard. Not certain who scored. They give McFadden 1 for stepout. 6-5. McFadden gets a turn with 4 seconds left wins 7-6. Cenzo challenges that he rolled through and got a step out. They rule McFadden was grounded.....he wins 7-6 WOW
* Hall vs Coleman: Hall gets 1 pt passivity point. Coleman rushes Hall towards edge...Hall whizzers him OB....leads 2-0. Hall with a Duck-under for 2 and then turns him twice for the tech. Hall is your US Open Champ.

*That Cenzo match finish was painful :(
***** I'm out.....enjoy your evening.

Did Chittum not make weight? Says Travis won by VFO against Chittum before any wrestling started. Howard’s was VIN against Figs which is injury default but I’m not sure about the Chittum match

Levi Haines on Mat 14, rematch vs Kamdyn Munro.
  • Halfway through first, both guys hesitant to do much, Haines gives up a shot clock point.
  • Haines finally strikes, gets a leg, converts, and turns for two more. 4-1 at break.
  • Munro gets to a leg, but Haines gets exposure off the scramble, gets better position behind and gets two more, and another two, while both guys have a piece of each other's leg. Score reads 10-2 with 2:14 remaining but Munro's corner challenges. (I think score should be 8-1, but it was a weird sequence, I can see arguments in both directions).
  • Haines wins, as the score was actually 10-1 at the time of the challenge, and Munro's lost challenge costs him the point leading to the tech.

Crazy exchange. I thought it was 8-1 as well but Levi definitely looked better this match. Munro is tough. Really good snaps and fakes. I think Levi sees Fields next which should be a good one

Munro karmically punished for the crime against humanity that is the spelling of his first name.

Parents - have some dignity and self respect

Robbie is so good in freestyle. That double he hit for 4 was beautiful. He is almost as quick as RBY as well.
