Does it bother anyone else that half of our men's Olympic team consists of relatively unaccomplished wrestlers? Do any of them have a significant achievement on their resume outside of beating other American Greco wrestlers? So many incredible athletes are denied a spot on the freestyle team to make room for such a poor mans flavor of the sport.

Jesse Thielke was 5-12 for Wisconsin in 2014-2015. Neither Andy Bisek nor Robby Smith ever won a state championship. Not trying to hate on these guys but it just seems so unbalanced based on talent and ability.

That's just ignorant. Other countries view Greco as the favorite style, involving more explosion and strategy. You're deeming a World Bronze Medalist as lesser because they didn't win a state title in a style that literally only our country participates in?
Greco is an art. I don't expect everyone to get it, but there are many countries that value it and think riding time and being able to go out of bounds without a penalty is stupid. Greco matters. It may not be easy to watch, as it's very different from what most Americans are originally exposed to, but it's important. It's also easier to decipher scores from, than freestyle, in my opinion.

Phil Davis never won a state title either.

I'm more bothered by the Ohio State guys not having real shoes for the team photo.

Guys (and gals),
I posted this so you could see our USA Team, and instead of getting behind them and posting some encouragement, most of what I see is sarcasm and negativity. Guess I expected more.

I like the photo with the casual, yet very determined, look. It's not a group you'd want to mess with.

I wish them well and will follow their matches. U-S-A!

Half of our Freestyle team has very little international experience. What has Dennis, Tank & Cox done other than beating other American Free wrestlers? Shoot, Dennis had nothing to do with qualifying the weight for the Olympics and Frank only got in due to a disqualification that was later reversed. How many high school championships did Dennis win? Not trying to hate on these guys but it just seems so unbalanced based on talent and ability.

Seriously.

If you want to talk about incredible athletes being denied a spot in the Olympics, go and take a look at the international rankings and see how many will not be going to Rio. Many from countries much smaller than the USA.

If you want to talk about international experience, than high school and collegiate experience is irrelevant.

How many high school championships did Tervel Dlagnev win? He only wrestled DII in college.

Eventually all roster spots are taken by younger and less experienced people.
