USA Today claims Beaver Stadium to be the 7th best college stadium in the country!

See link below:

http://fanindex.usatoday.com/2014/09/22/the-10-best-stadiums-in-college-football/

It puts Ohio State and Michigan above Penn State. This is supposed to be a fan based ranking. To me, this has some serious flaws!

Michigan above PSU? That ranking has zero credibility. Michigan is a morgue. It gets this nonsense hype and rep as the 'big house' but in reality is a very weak contender among major college stadia.

The Rose Bowl is the same as Michigan. Yeah there are nice pics of the mountains and Rose Bowl every Jan 1 (or whenever the bowl is held) but the rest of the year the Rose bowl is an over half empty morgue for ucla games.

Clemson? Michigan? I guess it depends on their definition of "best" but IMO there are lots of apparent flaws on that list. For example, Texas A&M would be on my personal top 10 list for sure.

The Shoe and Beaver Stadium have SEC environments, even Camp Randall. You can tell this even on TV. The Big House has 18th hole @ the US Open environment.

I have never been but I get the impression that Clemson ranking is probably really fair.

Michigan Stadium is a lot louder since they put in the new structures up on both sides, and it's just a classic venue. It belongs on this list. Now the 'Shoe, on the other hand......

Interesting that even though we are ranked at 7, the B1G has 4 out of 10 "best stadiums" in the country based on this fan-based ranking (tOSU, UM, PSU & Wisky). The SEC only 3 (LSU, UGA and UF), the ACC only 2 (Clemson & VA Tech) and Pac 10 only 1 (UCLA). At least the B1G gets respect!

I'd love to go to a PSU vs. LSU game in Baton Rouge to see the stadium environment there. A nice OOC home and home series scheduling would be nice in the future. I doubt though that either school might want this given how difficult our respective conference divisional games are already!.I would love it just for 2 games only though!

I think Clemson is just one example of a place where I just don't "get it." Maybe you have to be there in person and I never have either. I've often heard their entrance of running down the hill is one of the best in college football. I found it quite uninteresting personally. And before others accuse me of not feeling it simply because I'm not a fan, I get goosebumps when I see VT's Enter Sandman entrance and I generally do not like them (I'm neutral on Clemson). I also feel that Clemson is annually one of the most overrated teams in the preseason polls, they rarely seem to live up to expectations. Maybe that is influencing my opinion of their traditions. Perhaps it's just me, but nothing about Clemson is on my personal "bucket list" as a college football fan.

As others mentioned, there are places I have a huge desire to see a game. "Bucket list" stadiums and traditions if you will. LSU is a great example and I hope the rumors that we are trying to get a home and home with them are true. Wisconsin looks like a fantastic place to visit. ND, Alabama, The Rose Bowl (have been there), tOSU (have been), the Swamp (less so lately since they are struggling) all strike me as true college football destinations.

This is an outrage. I mean high point solutions or whatever the hell those idiots at rutgers calls their stadium is not on the list???? How can this be?

I seem to recall some years ago PSU was "thinking" of using the seating "spacing" similar to Michigan. In short, they were gong to remove a couple of inches from the current seat width. I think we would have reached a capacity of around 115,000? Maybe my memory is flawed? Anyone remember this?

dawgduice, please don't give them any ideas.

It's better than it was, but it still isn't Beaver Stadium. Not even close.

I would have put the old Pitt Stadium at #2 behind us. Certainly any time I've been there the noise was unbelievable. Of course, it was usually loudest when Penn State scored......hmmm.

Yeah- where's Heinz Field in the list? ;)

Yeah Clemson is often overrated as a team but their stadium is loud for big games and worth adding to your bucket list. I don't think it's better than the Beav (and yes Ive been there) but it's far better than Michigan. The entrance is ok. The students fill in that endzone after the team runs down and stand the whole game (no bleachers there). Clemson is much better than the SEC's South Carolina IMO.

I've been to the Swamp several times as my daughter defected from the family and went to UF from 1999 to 2003 :) My wife, my son and I are all PSU Grads. This was an era where the Gators were a pretty tough team to beat. It is awfully hot during most games and the stadium isn't all that impressive. It is very colorful though with all that bright orange and blue. I'd take Beaver Stadium an a bad day over the best day at the Swamp!

As I recall. Michigan's seats were 1 1/2 inches smaller, which would equate to 5,000 more at the Beav.

Having been to Michigan Stadium numerous times, it's clear that the seat dimensions are miniscule. Rule of thumb: whenever everybody in your section stands, do NOT be the last guy to sit down. Or, you won't.

Truer words have perhaps never been posted on this Board.....Sept & Oct are awful in The Big (Out)House, but add in the winter coats in Nov, absolutely ridiculous!

Well, ILLINOISLION claims Beaver Stadium to be THE BEST college stadium in the country.

So take that and screw you USA TODAY.....and while I'm at it, well, you know who you are!
