Very solid defense, special teams, and passing game, but need to bring a running game to Iowa and Ohio State...

A 4-0 September will definitely exceed expectations. The D is playing at a championship level, Stout is a beast on STs, and Clifford to all the receivers -- including the TEs -- is really very good.

But upcoming road trips to the likes of Ohio State and Iowa will require a pounding running game, and we haven't really seen that yet. I hope it starts showing up soon.

I think taking what the opposition is giving will work in their favor. While balance is the objective, if the other team is schemed to stop one or the other then it makes no sense to continue to try to do that. I’m not saying Auburn did that, but sometimes it’s best not to force that balance, which may be why #14 completed 88% of his passes.

One of the reasons I posted about the running game is that in both the Wisconsin and Auburn games, there were 3-and-outs in late 4th quarter because the running game couldn't burn the clock and ice the game. In both games, the defense was on the field at the end, praying for a hold. That can't be the recipe for success at Iowa City or Columbus.
