Video of Narduchi informed of PS/Temple series (link)

It doesn’t seem that extends to the offices of Old Main. But the excuse-making needs to end. Penn State doesn’t have any good reasons left not to play Pitt other than “they just don’t want to.”

At least he gets it. We don't want to play Pitt. Their coach is a douche and their fans are classless. We don't want to play Pitt. Can you blame us??
And maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought we’re in the middle of playing Pitt four years in a row. Maybe I’m dumb, but I would say that’s playing them. I guess we needed to lock them in for the next 50 years for Pitt fans to consider us playing them or not dodging them.

I would have rather continued with the Pitt series honestly. Its much more entertaining and fun. It creates a lot of conversation and jawing with one another. The Temple series just does not do it for me. For those that want to argue , I first ask you to put your EGO on the shelf.
Temple is better.

What excuse-making? We don’t need an excuse to not play Pitt.

But here’s a great excuse: Pitt owes us approximately 40 (FORTY) games in State College. Give us these, we’ll be more than happy to play you!

Stick your EGO back up your a** where it belongs!!! The only reason I don't care about playing Pitt any longer is that it would benefit PSU just as much as playing Akron, or Georgia State, or Kent State, or Coastal Carolina! However none of these other teams are demanding PSU play H&H series with PSU and none of these other programs have ever forced PSU fans to buy special ticket packages in order to buy tickets to their games!

I thought Pitt refused to play a 2 game series and wanted at least 4. Looks like we only want two games to get more variety. Whatever. I’d rather not play any old Big East football schools (the original hoops schools).

I'm not sure that's a great argument about the away ticket packages. I'm sure tickets to the away games for the H&H series with West Virginia and Auburn coming up will be every bit as difficult for PSU fans to purchase thru their schools. Regardless of how much PSU fans aren't so crazy on these boards about playing Pitt, be honest: will the demand for tickets and the secondary market prices be higher for home games coming against Temple or Pitt? That will answer the question about which opponent is more desired by most fans.

Also, I believe Penn Sate charged the most for tickets to the Pitt game last year than any other team, and here was their policy: "Due to extreme demand for tickets for games against Pittsburgh and Michigan during the Nittany Lion Club pre-sale, tickets to those matchups are only available by purchasing season tickets or recent graduate season tickets."

I don't want to play Pitt because I don't like them and don't want to help sell tickets and generate interest for their program.

I don't want to play Temple because they don't interest me. I would love to hear the rationale behind the home/home agreement.

Pseudo home game at LFF - recruiting PHL, NJ, Del...no real downside

Right, I get that, PSU has to play in Philly every so often for many reasons, and it's not because Temple is an exciting opponent. Why not schedule a marquee match-up there or in NYC every so often?

Agree. There are several examples of other teams doing this. Wisconsin recently played a "home-and-home" against LSU in which games were played at Lambeau Field and NRG in Houston and the Badgers will do it again against ND with a Lambeau/Soldier Field series. There has got to be an opponent willing to do a similar double "neutral" arrangement.

This is totally the fault of PSU based on our arrogance and self important hubris. PITT fairly and generously offered home and home at three venues. HF and where Robert Morris plays

The pitt series is a novelty that is wearing off quickly. Tickets to this years game are about 1/3 of what they were 2 years ago. If they kept playing tickets would get cheaper, while their fans would get even more annoying with every loss.

PSU is not a charity, let Pitt whither and die on their own.

Robert Morris, that's a joke, right? I think a H & H could still be negotiated with Pitt where Pitt doesn't get this huge windfall while they aren't top-tier, What if PSU gets 30-50% control of the tickets to Heinz for the game? Base it on where each team is ranked at the end of the previous year, or who wins between them the previous year. Put up, or shut up.

I hate them too, but that makes it more fun to beat them.

Holy shit, some Temple guy is dragging Alan Saunders in his comments....

Its not that difficult. We have to play nine conference games a year. That leaves only there open dates for OOC Matchups. Two of those three games are going to be home games against contracted opponents. That leaves one game each year for an opponent that might actually interest fans. Does the idea of playing Pitt every year interest anyone? Seriously anyone?

I think they can get more creative than that. Sacrifice a 7th home game in a season where you would play 2 cream puffs like Delaware, Ball State or Villanova at noon in Sep for a game at a neutral site against a marquee team that can generate just as much revenue as a home game, or a game at Pitt where we demand the same revenue as them. I know, Penn State has to have 7 home games, no room for discussion. We got bills to pay. Make the parking $200 for the 6 home games?

That was his reaction when asked why the average star ranking of his 2019 class is 2.78.

I wouldn't mind seeing us forgo a home game one season (i.e. have 6 home games) in order to play a high quality "neutral site" game at Philly (or the Meadowlands or FedEx Field, etc.). Those types of games generally have pretty decent payouts due to high ticket prices (sad for consumers) but also sponsorship, advertising, maybe even TV rights.

Michigan has recently been willing to have 6 home games in some seasons to do this. I've got to imagine that if the economics work for them, it can work for us as well.

The big loser, though, would be the local businesses in Happy Valley missing out on one of those lucrative weekends.

Head coach of 4-5 Pitt trolls 7-1 rival Penn State after PSU falls to Ohio State

The Pitt-Penn State rivalry continues to be a somewhat petty delight.

No. 2 Penn State lost a game-of-the-year-so-far heartbreaker at No. 6 Ohio State on Saturday. The final score was 39-38 and PSU’s first loss of the season.

One of Penn State’s rivals is Pitt, its southwestern neighbor. Earlier this season, Penn State beat Pitt by 19. On Saturday, the Panthers beat Virginia to move to 4-5.

Anyway, here’s Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi at 7:13 p.m. ET:

I bring up that timestamp because it’s right smack in the middle of Penn State finishing its collapse against Ohio State. The game ended at 7:17 p.m. ET, and Narduzzi’s tweet came just after Penn State lost possession on a fourth-down failure that clinched it for the Buckeyes. Pitt’s game against Virginia had ended at 3:28 p.m. ET, so I will not hear any arguments that this was coincidental timing.

For not caring about Pitt, you guys seem to take more pleasure beating them than any other teams except OSU and Mich. I would think that you would want to play them every year based on the 'beatdown' fun that I am seeing.

Easy now stepping down from your soapbox. Safety first.

Now, here’s a cookie. That’s a good boy.
