No doubt Franklin and company can recruit.
Alot of these 4 and 5 star players we got as well as several 3 star players had offers from several big time programs. We had to go toe to toe with them and won the recruiting war.

Once a kid arrives on campus the 15 minutes of fame your recruiting ranking gave you are gone.
Now the hard work begins.
Coaches have to mold these kids.
Particularly position coaches have to be good teachers.
5 star kids are not going to succeed just because they are 5 star kids. That position coach needs to know how to teach these kids. This is where Joe really hired great assistants because he saw they were also great teachers. While James has had his share of success, I do not think he has come close to hiring the qualtity of assistant coaches who are great teachers like Joe did.

Now we are getting the great recruits but when it all comes out in the wash some of these great recruits are getting beat out by walk ons.

One thing that Buddy Ryan said about drafting great players. (this is Buddy the assistant coach not the bombastic head coach). "You get kids who are all world and think they know everything. But you need to know how to break them down then rebuild them your way" No one can argue what Buddy did on the defensive side of the ball.

Ray Rhodes did not have alot of success as a head coach in Philadelphia. But I remember one thing he said. "You have to hire assistant coaches who are great teachers"
The big benefactor with that was Andy Reid who kept maybe a handful of Rhodes assistant coaches and they all went on to have tremendous success with him.
