depends on the brand... Penn seems to run green. Wilson yellow...

When I was 3 years old, my parents built a house and I was to get a bedroom of my own. When asked what color I wanted the room painted, my reply was “chartreuse”. I have know idea where I had heard the word. My father did paint it chartreuse. I painted it light blue when I became a teenager.

Thanks for responding to the poll.

I'm curious: of the 20+ people who think they are green, how many of you play tennis?

Also, you are wrong. They are yellow. The official color is "Optic Yellow". By rule (International Tennis Federation) official balls can only be yellow or white (and as others have rightly pointed out they used to be white. Wimbledon was the last tournament to switch to yellow).

I play with both Penn and Wilson and believe they (and other ball brands) are all exactly the same color of yellow.

I was pretty young when white balls were common, but I recall not likely how dirty they got (especially on public hard courts).
