We Are..... No. 1!!!

Very nice to see. No doubt their victory a week ago at Hawaii was the impetus for this, despite a loss to UCLA a couple days prior to that.

On a side note, I find it comically tragic that Grand Canyon is in that list. Complete sham University, similar to University of Phoenix. Seems they’ve made it a point of focus to invest in their sports teams as a marketing tool to try to convince people they’re a legitimate academic institution. Their basketball team made the NCAA tournament too.

The Grand Canyon comment made me wonder what happened to Dan Majerle there. Turns out he won 60% of his games there and only had one losing season. Apparently is contesting the firing. Scumbag school for sure....

Grand Canyon University (2013–2020)Edit

On March 15, 2013, it was announced that Majerle would coach for Grand Canyon University in their first season as a Division I team.[14]

On December 23, 2015, Majerle led Grand Canyon to their first tournament victory as a Division I team when they won the 2015 Global Sports Classic championship.[15]

He was fired on March 17, 2020, after his first losing season, with his seven years stint at Grand Canyon coming to an end. On May 19, 2020, Majerle filed a lawsuit against Grand Canyon University over the handling of its firing from the head coach position and pending salaries. [16]

A few weeks ago, their baseball team played the Vols on the MLB Network. I knew nothing about this school so I looked it up on the Internet and saw that play in the WAC.

We’ve played a very competitive schedule and have beaten a lot of quality west coast teams - Hawai’i, UCLA, USC, Stanford, Pepperdine, UC Irvine. We’ve also beaten tOSU who is ranked. Our only losses have been to #3 UCLA and #4 Long Beach State.

Ohio State is ranked 15 out of 28 teams. That is a below average team.

There are 40 schools competing in Division I for men's volleyball - there is no Division II, only I and III so all Division II school (in other sports) play in Division I for men's volleyball. e.g. Charleston (WV) otherwise competes in Div II in the Mountain East conference for sports but is in the EIVA conference with PSU in men's volleyball.

They are classified separately but they do compete together but come on they are not on the same level. Do you think for example Charleston can ever compete with a Penn State or Ohio State? They simply do not have the resources to compete.

Well, Charleston beat Ohio State in Columbus this year, so....

You are the one who made a silly statement that Ohio State is a "below average" team. They are ranked and are generally among the top teams in the MIVA in any given year. To your point, there's a bunch of "lesser" teams competing in Div 1 in any given year (like the Carolinas Conference and NEC teams) that Ohio State is much stronger than so it doesn't make much sense to not include them as a solid win in the sport.
