It's nice to see Vegas has more confidence in our offense than I do, because we haven't scored 40 in a game since September.

Coming off a tough loss, with a dinged up Clifford, against a forgettable opponent......I guess we'll see.

I'm guessing we'll see something closer to 38-7.

Can we just make an annual ‘I think the point spread is too high’ thread and y’all can keep your weekly trash in there?

Pro tip: don't read the thread if you don't like it :)

(and you realize we're .500 against the spread this year, right? Not that I give a damn about that, but since you want to complain about people suggesting the spread is too favorable for us.....)

Problem with that tip is the board still has 12 (at least) shit threads like this per season. My proposal consolidates these 12+ shit threads into 1 shit thread, thereby reducing shit threads by more than 92%

Nittany illinoise it really doesn't matter. I would treat this game like the Blue &White game. What are we going to do? Go in there with the mentality, we are going to BULLY you ,so we look better in the polls. C'mon lets completely do the opposite. Our bidding is over, knocking the shit out of Rutgers isn't going to change one damn thing. Believe me.

Oh, I'm not saying there's any imperative that we win by 41+. I'd be perfectly content winning by 35.

Obviously, you don't risk further injury by forcing guys into action for the sake of pounding Rutgers. But, there is something to be said about going out there and pounding them. Will it move the program's needle? No. But the offense in particular needs to find a rhythm. Here's a good opportunity to do that and try some new things.

I'm not one who believes it's CFP-or-bust. I hope we can make a statement and do everything in our power to get a Rose Bowl bid (needing some help, of course).

Why do I suspect that you have other names under which you post/posted?

For a "new poster" you sure do post frequently.....kinda like "Bob92PSU" and that other equally disturbed poster named "9fold". Ironically, both of the aforementioned are undeniably one and the same and ...... wait for it....had degrees from both PSU and Illinois.

The coincidences are just too obvious.

Two of the largest universities in the nation, in the same conference, no less. Yeah, can't imagine more than one person has attended both.

Has Bob critiqued your child-like critical thinking skills? Or perhaps offered commentary on your secure status as the Narduzzi of this board -- you know, so enraged by the success of James Franklin that you become the pimple on the ass of this board for the sake of making everybody else as miserable as you?

If so, then perhaps Bob and I have more in common than I thought.

:)

OSU only bet them by 35.

Lol isn't that what the spread results be? Even?

Yep, which means there are plenty of instances in which a spread is pegged as too high, and some in which it's too low.

The Indiana spread struck me as too high, given our struggles coming off of losses, and IU having a bye the week prior. The spread against Maryland, for example, seemed way too low given our history demolishing that team and the fact that Temple exposed the Terps. It happens.

-41 just struck me as curiously high given the various factors at play: coming off an emotional game in Columbus, a banged up Clifford, in all likelihood a pretty tame Thanksgiving weekend crowd where the students are away, etc.

Not that it matters much if we win by 42 or win by 35. Just an observation.

There is a Central Illinois Penn State alumni chapter. I’ve met many people over the years with degrees from both Penn State and Illinois.

i am hoping that this game is put away easily and does not turn into another tester into the second half. get lots of players PT and nobody hurt. this team has been through a gauntlet and needs a break.

Hopefully some players that have worked hard in practice all fall have a chance to see some playing time this Sat.
Most of the top level teams that have played Rutgers have emptied their benches to give the backups some valuable game experience.
