Big Ten
Mich at Utah - my pick: Utah. Harbaugh has made a media splash but he does not have the players yet.
TCU at Minny - my pick: TCU. They are simply better than the Gophers.
Kent State at Illinois - my pick: Illinois. Despite losing the (BWI hated) Beckman, I don't think Kent State offers up the challenge.
Alabama vs. Wisconsin- my pick: Bama. I don't think it will be that close.
BYU at Nebraska - my pick: BYU. The 'Huskers losing 5 players for this game does not help.
Stanford at Northwestern - my pick: Stanford. In this battle of future Mensa Society members, Stanford has better talent, although Northwestern may make it close.
Southern Illinois at Indiana - my pick: IU. I know very little about either team, but at least IU is a D-1A team. Sort of. And at home.
Purdue at Marshall - my pick: Marshall. I just am playing a hunch that they have more talent.
Richmond at Maryland - my pick: Maryland. See SIU vs. IU for my reason.
Norfolk State at Rutgers - my pick: Rutgers. See SIU vs IU for my reason
Illinois State at Iowa - my pick: Iowa. See SIU vs IU for my reason.
MSU at Western Michigan - my pick: MSU. They are a very talented team.
Ohio State at Va Tech - my pick: OSU. They are the prohibitive favorite to run the table. Why not start in Blacksburgh?
Penn State at Temple - my pick: PSU. Agree with everyone who says Temple is a better team than they were last year, and they are not to be overlooked, but....Penn State, even in bad years, had better talent.
Other games of note:
Texas at Notre Dame - my pick: Notre Dame. Texas is still a ways away from being really good, and the Domers are at home.
Youngstown State at Pitt - my pick: Pitt. Surprise to some here who despise Pitt, but Bo Pellini won't be able to work magic at YSU just yet. I also think Bo will be the next head coach at Pitt, after the current guy is gone. However, in a surprise move, all Pitt's jersey numbers will be switched to "5B".
Bethune-Cooman at Miami - my pick: Miami. Former PSU Al Golden starts a potentially rocky year with a W against a D-1AA team. Good for him.
Arkansas State at USC - my pick: USC. And the coaching staff celebrates by getting hammered on Stoli Dolis.
Louisville vs Auburn - my pick: Auburn: Just because I really don't like the conniving Bobby Petrino.
Arizona State at aTm - my pick: aTm: Just because the ASU guy coached at Pitt, and that is reason enough for me to not pick them.
Boise State at Washington - my pick: Washington: I don't know much about both teams, but the guy who made BSU into a power is at UDub, so my feeling is he is better than the guy who took over for him at BSU.
OK - so those are my picks....
