Average
Week 6 of the Average. A reminder that a wrestler must appear in half of the rankings to appear in the Average. Morelli appears in 6 of the 9, so he's back in the Average at 174. Rasheed appears in 2 of the 9, so he drops out at 174. Also, as the computer generated rankings often are more inaccurate (or whatever you'd like to call it) at the beginning of the season, I'll indicate the Average without and with the computer generated rankings. The two averages are not all that different at this point.

Dual - 2nd (1st time they ranked dual)
Roster - 2nd (1st time they ranked roster)

Just to be clear, these should be tournament-strength, dual-component, and roster-component, respectively. Retherford being in 4th is a function of an extremely spotty strength of schedule so far, and I expect this to change over the next few weeks. (if there was an RPI release, without respect to minimum matches, I'm fairly certain Retherford would be further down the pecking order than he is in this rating due to his strength of schedule, the fact that this rating uses bonus points is what keeps him as high up as he is)

In putting this together, I was struck by Flo's 157 rankings. Check out the eligibility of the top ranked guys.

1. Nolf - Soph
2. Kemerer - Fresh
3. Berger - Soph
4. Kutler - Fresh
5. Smith - Soph

plus Josh Shields is at 9th, with freshmen eligibility

Could be some fun times at this weight class for the next few years, though it's possible that some of them may outgrow this weight.

I've read some of the Okie State fans thoughts that Smith has trouble with the cut. Kemerer was at 149 last year and that was supposedly his ideal weight, but he seems to be doing well at 157. I'm not sure about the other wrestlers in the top 5. What about Nolf, will he follow IMar up to 165 or does he appear to be a career 157?

Outgrow or Run away from the Nolfinator!

As with last week's Intermat Tournament Rankings...they don't match my model, used for years and battle-tested...but who cares. Remember...sans Bonus Points.

Row Labels Sum of Pts
Penn State 99
Oklahoma State 98
Iowa 92
Ohio State 81.5
Virginia Tech 79.5
Nebraska 60.5
Missouri 49.5
Cornell 46.5
Minnesota 37
Illinois 36.5

Hmm, how about that. They haven't done team rankings in all the years I've been doing the Weekly Review. Will be a pain if they continue to release it a few days after they release the weight class rankings.

I'll have to edit a few things in my OP.

Tom,
It will continue to be late for the foreseeable future as we incorporate every match result into our calculations. We have partnered with WrestleStat to receive that data, but between me passing our new rankings to them and them updating all the information to send back to me, it will likely continue to be released Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Sorry to be the fly in the ointment, but I believe this is the best possible way to do rankings that project NCAA tournament points.
