Average -- not yet generated; below are last week's Averages
Week 8 of the Average. A reminder that a wrestler must appear in half of the rankings to appear in the Average. Cortez appears in 2 of the 9, so he's not in the Average. Also, as the computer generated rankings often are more inaccurate (or whatever you'd like to call it) at the beginning of the season, I'll indicate the Average without and with the computer generated rankings. The two averages are not all that different at this point.
Without Computer Generated Included
125: Suriano - 3rd (3rd)
133: No PSUer (Cortez - 15th)
141: Gulibon - 14th (13th)
149: Zain - 1st (1st)
157: Nolf - 1st (1st)
165: Joseph - 6th (6th)
174: Hall - 9th (Morelli - 13th)
184: Nickal - 2nd (2nd)
197: Cutch - 9th (9th)
285: Nevills - 4th (5th)
Team: 1st (2nd)
With Computer Generated Included
125: Suriano - 3rd (4th)
133: No PSUer (Cortez - 13th)

Just took notice for the first time the year Josh Rodriguez is having (ND State)--one loss, a 5-3 DEC to Joey Dance, who is undefeated. Conceivable that both Dance and Rodriguez will win out before the NCAAs (Dance will face Darien Cruz, Rodriguez may face Piccininni at B12s), which could then result a scenario where Suriano took the 4 seed, assuming only one more loss to Gilman at the B1Gs.

Even if those assumptions play out Suriano would have a good argument for a 2-3 seed (more so over Rodriguez than Dance) because the B1G schedule is so much tougher than Va Tech's or ND State's, but it does seem plausible that he winds up with the 4th instead.

Beating Gilman at the B1Gs wouldn't necessarily assure he winds up on opposite side of the bracket from Gilman because Dance would be the only undefeated and probably 1 seed.

Still think there is a decent probability that Dance and Gilman face-off in a "National Duals" match-up (depends on how how both Iowa and then PSU do against daO$U). If Dance and Gilman end up meeting at National Duals, it could also have a big impact on this equation.....

Best case scenario for wrestling fans if Iowa and Va Tech went at it, for all the oranges. Seems unlikely if Brands has a say regardless of what the rankings say. Although last year NC State at least had a plausible claim to #2 over Va Tech, this year no one else is close, given Missouri's problems. So right now Va Tech seems a safe bet for the #2 non-B1G team, and yeah, Iowa tOSU this week should clearly who lines up behind Penn State (assuming PSU beats tOSU). The Iowa tOSU dual is at CHA but there are so many toss-ups, it seems like it could go either way. An Iowa loss and Brands can more easily duck Dresser, robbing us of wrestling's Orange Bowl.

Fully updated, and Average generated.

Surprising amount of changes in the Average for this point in the season. Cortez disappeared from all but the computer-generated rankings, and as such he's out of the Average. Hall moved into the Average, and went in at a higher ranking than the PSUer that he replaced, Geno Morelli. Lastly, in both the non-computer-generated Average and the with computer-generated Average, the Team ranking went from 2nd to 1st.
