Welcome Jim Haslett to the PSU coaching staff

Although technically not a "coach", Haslett is probably the best, most qualified "non- coach" on staff. I won't comment on his recruiting abilities relative to Franklin, but Jim could excel/outperform at any positional coaching job he was given, including DC and OC.

I'm generally not big on consultants, but this was a huge hire.

What makes you think Haslet has any interest in being a defensive coordinator as compared to just a "consultant"? Apples and Oranges. A consultant gig like this is one of the cushiest job on the planet. It's nothing like a defensive coordinator position in any aspect. Not even close. This is just ridiculous on so many levels.

Haslett's no kid. He may want to just stay in the game without going through the full grind. If he's planning to get in full time in the future I doubt that he's looking at college. For a guy whose career has been in the NFL recruiting isn't too attractive.

This looks like a great move by Franklin.

Here are some questions about the consultant's role. Does a consultant like Haslett have a role on gameday? Is he in the booth upstairs? Is he on the sidelines? Is he in the locker room at halfitme to help with adjustments? Does he travel with the team for road games?
