Takes me back, speculate, what would the entire athletic future (all sports not just FB) have been had PSU joined the ACC instead of Big. How would wrestling and WVB been impacted? The top-seven ACC programs are ranked for six position units. pitt has only one unit ranked in the top seven. Their DL unit is ranked sixth out of seven.

Where would we be in hockey if we were in the ACC?
Thanks for the reply, certainly agree on the $$$ factor, just annoys me how eagerly others were accepted into the conference. As much as many people here hate the b1g and would rather see us in the ACC, the b1g is better for Penn State, both financially and athletically. Many programs would be in a lesser position in the ACC. I’m not sure even lacrosse would be better if we were in the ACC since the b1g is very competitive (and has Johns Hopkins).
Where would we be in hockey if we were in the ACC? Soccer might get a boost. Being in the ACC might force the administration to take basketball seriously, but I doubt it.
Penn State is better off in the b1g. Maybe the relationship will improve with the new commissioner. I’m not holding my breath, but anything is possible.
Honestly, I could have stopped at MONEY..
January 17/18 tbd. When will they officially announce the Michigan kickoff time??
Put Notre Dame officially in the ACC with us and I think the money would be similar. ACC+Notre Dame+Penn St > B1G - Penn St for me.As much as many people here hate the b1g and would rather see us in the ACC, the b1g is better for Penn State, both financially and athletically. That would be a major upset and even if it would happen, Clemson would still coast to win the Atlantic Div. and the conference.I think Syracuse is going to have a very good year. They play Clemson early in the season and in my opinion they have a real shot at an upset.
As a Pitt fan, it sucks not even getting excited for the season. Pitt administrators love Narduzzi because he’s a “great guy.” But the truth is that Narduzzi sucks. His recruiting sucks, his record sucks, his hires suck. Guys, I know you don’t care, but our high ends were HISTORICALLY bad last year. They missed on all their TE recruits AND KEPT Tim Salem, who also sucks.
The ACC is Clemson and everyone else. The worst thing that could happen is if Syracuse knocks them off in miracle fashion, or something fluky.
Stick to something at which you're not very good as opposed to something in which you are totally clueless.

That's the first time I've ever heard anyone say Narduzzi is a "great guy". He seems like a total lunatic on the field, and a sleazebag off. Given he was at MSU during the worst scandal in the history of college athletics, I don't know why any school would want him around.
Clemson is susceptible to fluky loses. It's happened 2 of the last 3 years.
I don't know you but I'm fairly certain that I wouldn't want to either. Someone holds a different opinion than you and this is your response? Bad day or are you really that miserable? Either way, I'm no longer interested in your thoughts. Please don't respond to any of my posts in the future.

Soccer might get a boost if we didn’t have an outhouse, could take a shower, and didn’t hide in a bus during halftime. As much as many people here hate the b1g and would rather see us in the ACC, the b1g is better for Penn State, both financially and athletically. ACC is crap all their teams did was win the National Championships in football and basketball. Really the only 2 college sports than mean anything.Takes me back, speculate, what would the entire athletic future (all sports not just FB) have been had PSU joined the ACC instead of Big. He's also a big-mouthed asshole.
Got to translate all these 4-star recruits into wins on the field. I looked at Clemson's 2020 class. Sick! Five 5-stars. Sick!Technically Florida St still has a higher ranked 4 year recruiting class average than Clemson next year although Clemson has almost entirely closed that gap. They will pass Florida St's 4 year recruiting class average for the 2020 season.
By the way, Penn St is likely to pass Michigan for the #2 B1G 4 year recruiting class average for the 2020 season. Still a ways to go but a decreasing gap with Ohio St.

One great team doesn’t make a conference good (and I’m talking football, everyone knows the ACC is good in basketball). I guess a couple years ago the West Coast Conference was the second best basketball conference in the country because Gonzaga got to the championship game and had they won that game, it would have been the best conference in all of the land.ACC is crap all their teams did was win the National Championships in football and basketball. Is that a home game for xcuse? There will be some growing into positions going on .Esp defensive line for clemsonWho knows maybe they will be ripe for the takingI think Syracuse is going to have a very good year. Not really much to say about that.
Syracuse might still have a wrestling team and Gene Mills might be coach.Takes me back, speculate, what would the entire athletic future (all sports not just FB) have been had PSU joined the ACC instead of Big. How would wrestling and WVB been impacted?
The last 2 MSU games really hurt. PSU should have won both of those games. It's easy to second guess coaching, but coaching didn't cause the weather delay in 2017. Coaching didn't drop the game ending INT in 2018.
The ACC has always been a shit football conference after their top team. Florida State has had a great program, but given their results over the past two years it appears that Clemson has displaced FSU as the ACC's one nationally relevant team. This year the ACC had two--count 'em, two--teams in the final AP Top 25. The SEC had six, if I recall correctly, including four of the top ten, and the Big Ten had 5. Even the Mountain West had more ranked teams (3) than the ACC.One great team doesn’t make a conference good (and I’m talking football, everyone knows the ACC is good in basketball). Who was that terrible team, that most people didn't even know still had a FBS team, that Clemson lost to in 2016?

Yes, but the question I answered was the implications of PSU joining the ACC rather than the Big Ten so my hypothetical starting point was 1990, the year PSU joined the Big Ten and not 2001, the last year of SU wrestling. There's a chance that PSU joining the ACC in '90 instead of the Big Ten could have resulted in other eastern football independents like Syracuse abandoning Big East basketball and seeking to join the ACC as well. I don't see any particular advantage beyond proximity for Syracuse in playing Villanova, Georgetown and UConn over playing Maryland, Duke, NC State and UNC.Syracuse killed off its wrestling program long before it joined the ACC
