Some are feeling let down - no more than those individuals themselves - that 3 PSU wrestlers lost in the finals tonight. See the big picture though. PSU is the undisputed best dual and tournament team for this season. The team was undefeated in duals, Southern Scuffle Champion, Dual Team Champion, Big Ten Champion and NCAA Champion. Not bad.

A fantastic season! Truly dominant performances across the board. A couple great, young freshmen who will be even better next year. A few classy, dedicated seniors say goodbye. So glad Nico got his title, felt bad for Morgan. In the end, dominated the rest of the nation and had the title sewn up before the championship matches. Damned impressive. Thanks boys, for all the entertainment!

It really was! Is it to early to look at next years lineup? haha. We lose Nico, Conaway and Morgan. What's the thoughts on the freshman coming in? Gotta think Cortez should have 125 or 133 spot locked up. Suriano get the other or does he redshirt? Hall at 165 maybe. Thoughts?

Suriano will be at 125 as a true freshman....Cortez 133....Yes we will be even better next year. Gotta pray we get Spencer Lee now !!!!

Outstanding year. Fun to watch. Looking forward to the freestyle season for those who choose to compete. Anyone know if Rasheed is Junior eligible? Want to see his results at a higher weight ASAP! Same with Joseph

Rasheed will be a redshirt soph.

I meant for freestyle. Don't know that he ever wrestles it though. I know Joseph, Cassar, and Bo are still UWW Junior eligible. Not sure about Nolf. Of course, there is still universities.

Great year. Feel bad for MM, JN, and BN they had great years. If someone would have predicted in the fall 2 champs, a BTen and NCCA Team Championships we would have taken it every time.

PSU won all the championships. Good post.:)

My hope is that Jason and Bo look like Zain... body wise when they come back from off season conditioning and weight lifting. You can see the difference in his (Zain's) ability to dominate with added muscle. He came back in his sophomore season looking like a mini Frank Molinaro and got bigger results along with his bigger frame.

The guys like Deiringer, IMAR and Dean also have the physique's to go with the wrestling ability. I think the added muscle would help Bo and Jason greater achieve their goals.

Was thinking the same thing amalone.
Add some more iron cladding and further ability to manhandle and they are even more dominating.

Looking at the replay of Zain's match, he summoned amazing strength to pull in the legs and keep driving to get a TD.

Many wrestlers dive in for an upper leg and get flattened by a counter. Often that is it and they break off the hold.

But Zain was able to rise up, pull in the leg and to even lift his opponent full up into the air, while swiveling his hips to return his opponent underneath for a TD. Watch the TD where Sorenson is fully up in the air with his arms and legs out in an X. (LOL - See the video for the exact letter)

That takes enormous power by Retherford. Agree with you that we can use even more of that kind of dominating power on the team.

Almost ... I hope they look like David Taylor and Quentin Wright.

Zain's body is more conducive to his style of wrestling -- rip your arm off and beat you into submission with it. That's not who Nolf and Nickal are.

Agree, they could add some more muscle.

Zain seems to have great strength in his hands and forearms. Rarely loses his hold/grip. Nolf and Nickel will improve this in the off season. They both lost their grip at key times in flurries. Just a small gain there and they will be even beastlier.

Give 'em each a pumpkin to squeeze, and let them build up to 3.

Isn't Zain a farm boy? If so, I'm sure he has that natural farm boy strength that only farm boys have. I'm sure a majority on this board have gone to school with some farm boys who just had incredible strength and many had it without ever touching a weight.

Amen to a great season. What is more impressive is the decisiveness of the end of season tournaments- outscored Iowa by 23.5 at Bigs (18.5% more points) and outscored Oklahoma State by 25.5 at NCAAs (26% more points).

Just dominant all season - and things didn't go perfectly by any stretch of the imagination. Lost by 1, 2 and 2 points in the finals at Nationals? Jimmy banged up and not at full effectiveness all year after the injury at the NLO. Cutch injuring his back and knee and not showing the form he had been demonstrating before them for the rest of the season. Nevills not getting back into the action until season's end and then showing the effects of the time off. Rasheed not being able to handle the weight cut to 165 (notice the 5/6 match at Nationals was two guys Shakur had huge leads against before he gassed out?). That's a fair amount for a team to overcome - and they did a lot more than just overcoming them.

I can't wait until next year!

Literally spot on, TJ. Was thinking, once again... the absolute same thing last night in the finals. Sorensen couldn't get his hips back fast enough (he showed extremely heavy hips in the Big Ten Final to fend off a Zain shot that showed Sorensen's good defense) to sprawl because Zain was so strong to pull in the leg on multiple occasions as you stated so eloquently. Right on, MY MAN!!! Literally thinking the same thing... most likely at the same time.
