The '97 OSU game gets forgotten. That pro set backfield with Enis and Harris was so productive and fun to watch!

How about the 1985 Notre Dame game. It poured the entire game with the temperature in the high 30's. I have never been colder in my entire life, but we won 36-6.

The 1986 Maryland game was no classic, but Pete Curkindall lumbering the length of the field after an interception is on of my favorite moments.

To name a few.....2001 game against ohio state when Mills led the comeback and Joe got 324.
2002 Nebraska at night....40-7 victory.
Orange Bowl in triple OT against Florida State.
Outback Bowl the next year Beating Tennessee
2007 White out against Notre Dame.

Sorry, yes, it was '85 opening game, Mark Manges (sp?) Md Q back was supposedly a real stud and this was their big chance to finally beat us. Very hot day and more importantly, we won.

In chronological order (again, games I've actually been at):

1994 vs USC. My first PSU game.

1994 vs Ohio State. 63-14, a total blowout and lots of fun on Homecoming.

1995 vs Ohio State. The only PSU loss on this list, but I included it just from the POV of having the most aggregate talent between both teams on the field. It was a well-played game, but OSU was a bit better.

1997 vs Ohio State. Classic comeback, Enis & Harris running over the Buckeyes.

1999 at Miami FLA. An improbable comeback in a classic college football setting.

2005 at Michigan State. PSU wins the B1G for the first time in 11 years.

2008 at Ohio State. PSU's first win ever at Ohio Stadium as a B1G member. Great defensive-oriented college football game.

2013 at Wisconsin. The best game, and a proper capper, of O'Brien's 2 years as our coach.

2014 vs UCF in Dublin. Unique setting across the ocean. Nice ending with the Ficken FG to win.

2014 Pinstripe Bowl. This game was simply a lot of fun, a bowl game in the best city in the world. Again, capped off with a Fickin kick to win.

2016 Ohio State: 24-20

Top 3 are easy for me.

1.) 1982 Nebraska (Nothing can ever top that).
2.) 2005 Ohio State (Easy second)
3.) 2002 Nebraska (Easy third).

The next 7 I have no idea. There were just too many good ones

I always crack up when some clueless reporter asks a player or a coach if the most recent White Out is the loudest it's ever been or the most meaningful win in our history. The simple answer is "No". They are all loud. And we have usually had FAR more meaningful games in the past than the game they are talking about.

People forget we used to run on to the field a lot more in the 70s. Lots of those games were awesome. The huge difference between now and then is the Stadium configuration. There's just something about 107,000 or 110,000 people in a stadium configured like the current Beav that gives you goose bumps, as compared to the 50, 60, 70, or 80 thousand like we used to have with no decks to keep the noise in.

I have always wondered what the 82 Nebraska game would have been like if it would have been played in today's configured stadium. Even in front of just 85 or so thousand, with no decks to keep the noise in, it was beyond absolute chaos. :)

1978 Pitt
1979 Rutgers (just because Bruce Clark blew up the RU QB right in front of the student section and it was amazing)
1982 Nebraska
1985 Alabama
1985 Notre Dame
1986 Maryland
1994 tOSU
1996 Michigan
1997 tOSU
1999 Arizona

I stopped going to games in 2000 due to family circumstances and the first game I attended since then was the 2010 UM game. PSU won 41-31. I've been to fewer than 10 games since 2000.

1994 @ Illinois: 35-31
2005 Ohio State: 17-10
2016 Ohio State: 24-20

Two stand out:
  1. The game where Curkendahl (sp?) intercepted Maryland QB (Henning?) to preserve a win and NC.
  2. Whiteout win over Michigan in 4 OT.

1999 vs The U in Miami. I took my dad; it was the last game he could enjoy before Alzheimer's took its toll. Light rain all game, Chafie Fields ran right toward us in the corner of the EZ on our winning TD!

1969, don't remember the team, but maybe WVU. Chuck Burkhardt, Charlie Pittman, Lydell and Franco. It was my first PSU game ever. Second undefeated season in a row. Nixon screwed us!

2011 vs Ill, JoePa's win # 409. I still believe the "fluid" student section caused UI's missed FG at the end of the game, which would have tied it. Took two of my nephews, both BIG PSU fans. For one and his wife, it was their first ever PSU game live, and they loved it despite the horrible weather.

2010 vs NW, # 400 for Joe. Down 21-0, Dan Persa's mom on the screen almost as much as he was, McGloin lights it up and D throws a 2nd half shutout for a 35-21 win!

2014 4 OT vs UM, just so exciting! A friend of my sister, UM fan (son was a UM student) came to her first game ever at Beaver Stadium. Loved it even tho UM lost, couldn't stop thanking me for taking her.

'82 vs NU, stormed the field, helped Mike McCloskey save a girl from getting beaned when the goal post came down!

2014 vs UCF, because it was in Ireland and we got the last second win. Took my oldest sister as a retirement present.

2006 Orange Bowl vs FSU, 3 OT win. Traffic and parking was so bad I missed the dirst score. The rest of the game made up for it!

1999 vs UK, Outback Bowl, went with a buddy who is a HUGE UK fan. UK took a 14-3 lead, PSU scored 23 unanswered to win. Quiet ride home!

2008 vs ILL, my first white out game, which we won 38-24. Even from inside the stadium, that sight was something to behold!

2010 Cap One Bowl vs LSU. I have a t shirt someone from LSU was selling, says "Let The Truth Be Known" which I happily wore out of the stadium!

I have a lot of the above. However the 4-6 Iowa game will always serve as one of the most memorable for me. As I said to my son then, "you'll never see this kind of game again." A horrible game that will place it in my top 10 of games attended because it's a haunting memory.

In chronological order:
1982 Nebraska - great comeback thank you Stone Hands.
1982 Pitt - win to go to the Sugar Bowl
1983 Notre Dame - was the official statistician for ESPN and Harry Kalas and George O'Connor
1994 USC - nobody does what we did to USC in the first half
1995 Ohio State - Curtis Enis vs. Eddie George IIRC
1995 Michigan - snow bowl
1999 Arizona - what a way to open the season demolishing highly ranked Arizona
2000 Michigan State - LJ
2001 Ohio State - Joe's 324
2002 Nebraska - A bright spot in the down years
2005 Ohio State - We are back - whiteouts and Zombie Nation is born
2008 Michigan - the streak is broken
2010 Northwestern- Joe's 400
2012 Wisconsin - a bright spot on a cold night in the sanction years
2014 Michigan - 4OT
2016 Ohio State - #2 goes down

My games are 2014 Michigan
the two 1994 games
1996 vs MSU over thanksgiving break. Wally Richardson leads them on TD drive in last 2 min.
2012 vs Wisconsin OT win
2008 White out vs Illinois DWill KO return to start the 4th
2002 MSU LJ goes crazy

totally agree. I took my two sons with my brother and on the 3 hour drive back things would get quiet for ten seconds, then somebody would say "six to four!" and we'd all laugh. One problem for that day was that many PSU fans booed Zack when MRob was put in. Shame. Also, our FG kicker was Robbie Gould. Iowa took at S, putting their 4 point lead down to 2 late in the game. What a strategy.

I'd have to say my top game was the UM 4 OT game.

Another memorable game was PSU versus NW when Moxie was QB. IIRC, we were down 9 going into the 4th quarter against a good and undefeated NW team in 2012. PSU came from behind to score 22 in the 4th quarter. That was a huge win for the scandal wracked PSU team that was finding themselves at that time.

1. 1983 Sugar Bowl versus Georgia
2-N: Any other win

My first game was at Three Rivers when Carson Long blew a couple field goals and we won over Pitt 7-6

48-14. Not even the Sugar Bowl vs Georgia comes close for me.

If i had been able to go to this game, i would probably feel the same. I was at the Sugar Bowl NC game. But, 48-14 might be my all-time favorite PSU win. Irony or ironies, i actually like Dan Marino these days.

Do you recall Chet Parlavecchio's comment about Pitt? Classic!

Refresh my memory on Chet's comments, please.
He was being interviewed and was asked about Pitt's schedule or something to that effect.

He remarked, "Pitt? Who'd they play? Thiel?" It was all over the local (Pgh) news at the time. It was great bulletin board material for Pitt.

I was a bit younger back then but I recall Chet being in and out of the Paterno doghouse for his braggadocios attitude. Great Stuff

Chet Parlavecchio was a linebacker all the way. He played with a lot of aggression. Some might say he was a little dirty. He and Ken Kelley are 2 Nittany Lions who come to mind when I think of PSU guys who played to and after the whistle. The way a LB is supposed to play.:D

I was at 6-4, and was also at '99 Minn and 2000 Toldeo. But my worst game was still the Maryland 13-13 tie in 1989 at old Memorial Stadium. The worst.

Yeah, I agree. And I suffered through that one too. It's not too often that a team intentionally allows you (Penn State) to have a safety. lol

In no particular order:

05 OSU
08 @OSU
16 OSU
05 FSU (Orange Bowl)
02 Nebraska
99 Arizona
05 @UMich (not one of my favorite games, but such a tight game from the football perspective... I was right behind "the" endzone...)
05 Minnesota (or was it Wisky? Senior Night blow out, unexpected)
01 OSU (324)
07 ND (student)

2005 vs Ohio State (obviously)
2005 vs Florida State (3 OT)
2007 vs Notre Dame (first full stadium whiteout)
2008 vs Ohio State (first win in Columbus in 30 years)
2009 vs LSU (Clark's redemption game -- and the rain/soggy field)
2010 vs Northwestern (Joe's 400th)
2011 vs Illinois (Joe's 409th -- and the student section before the end of game FG)
2013 vs Michigan (4 OT)
2015 vs Maryland (just was fun with the back and forth)
2016 vs Ohio State (obviously)

I don't think anyone has mentioned 1990 @ Notre Dame. By far the best PSU game I've seen in person. PSU was #19 and shocked #1 ND.

Even though it wasn't a big game, my first--Stanford in 1976. All the guys were going crazy about the Stanford cheerleaders.

But there were some good ones after that.

Taking my brother (later class of '82) to his first PSU game in 1977 vs Maryland (made the SI cover, as I recall). One of the reasons he decided to go to PSU.

Beating tOSU in 1978 at Ohio Stadium, when I'd been living in Columbus all of two days. Ran into the gang from my old dorm after the game.

At Notre Dame in 1982. I still maintain we caused the safety with our crowd noise.

Taking my future wife to her first PSU game vs Syracuse in 1990

#324

63-14

tOSU 2005

And I wish it wasn't--but November 12, 2011.

I remember taking one of my buddies down to that 1994 game against USC. He was (and still is) a HUGE Bills fan. It was his first Penn State Game. The Bills were coming off of their fourth Super Bowl appearance in a row.

Of course we absolutely dominated the Trojans. He was absolutely amazed how good we were. It was like after every play, he would say "The Bills HAVE to draft THAT guy". Then he would say stuff like "Where did these guys come from????".

The whole way home, he kept raving that Penn State was good enough to beat the Bills.

Then a few years later when the Bills got Rob Johnson, he was all excited. That's until I reminded him that Johnson was the same QB we sacked 6 times in the first half of the Penn State game with Tony Boselli blocking his blind side. He said "Oh. That's the same guy? He sucked!".

He was right. Rob Johnson did end up sucking. :)
