What can we expect from Nevills?

I'm gonna put this out there...just my gut feeling with no bases for it..

If PSU only up by 3 or 4 tonight, you see Nevellis
We'll know if this is even a possibility when weigh in happen today. If he doesn't attend the weigh in, there is no possibility of wrestling

So I'm sitting in my office, ready to leave, and in walks a fellow fan. He said "did you hear Nevills is wrestling tonight?". My response was "no way, where did you see that?". He said "on the internet"...so I'm thinking IT MUST BE TRUE. Long-story-short...he read where "Mouse" was going tonight, and mistakenly thought that was Nevills' nickname.

I thought I read that he is on record saying 60%.

One thing to consider is the fact that Nick has had two significant injuries in his first two years. Who's to say he'll be healthy for the next 3-4 years? If he wrestles now and has a significant injury any of the next three years, he gets his MedRS anyway. If he doesn't wrestle this year, and gets hurt again over the next four, then the gamble didnt pay off. My feeling is, if he's healthy, wrestle. Take a shot at a team title. If he were a senior, I might see it differently.
This. I keep seeing people assume that sitting him this year will somehow guarantee him four healthy years of wrestling. He has a history of injuries obviously, and no margin for error in the future with redshirting. If it was my decision and he was healthy, there is no question that he would wrestle

"If I'm in Nevells shoes and I'm 100% cleared to wrestle, my parents are on board and I can help the team secure the dual, I'm going out to make one helluva debut.

Think about it, thousands of fans, could secure win for team, reigning world champion, everything to gain and nothing to lose!! I'm pumped.

That being said, if he is not 100% medically cleared, that's a different story"

Totally agree and would add I believe Nick would want to roll this year if at all possible to help the team win and secondly to avoid a Nevills sitting needlessly in a few years. Not to mention as much as injuries have kept him off the mat these past two years, he has to be chomping at the bit to show what he's got!

Haven't heard anything about Nick going to the Edinboro Open. That strikes me as a negative because Cael has used that type open in the past to get a wrestler a couple of bouts when coming back from injury or suspension.

Edinboro open would have been a terrible idea. Maybe if he was cleared a few weeks ago

Just my thoughts on this.
Why even have him wrestle this year? Get the medical cause and then you will have 4 FULL years for him. If he goes now only get 3 and a few matches this year.
Way Zain, Nolf, Nickal and Nico are wrestling you will get enough bonous points matches I don't see how or why you really need him this year. Just my 2 cents and Know I'm just learning how this wrestling stuff goes down.:) ;)
You're going on quite the anti-PSU jihad tonight on your board. What's got you so salty. Throwing out the secret NLWC slush fund thing and everything.

Here's a hint - in state partials cost less than out of state partials

Don't think Cael would ever send a wrestler on his first match back from injury out to meet a World Champion (forget about his NCAA Title, Snyder is a freaking world Champion!) on his first match back regardless of whether he is perfectly healthy and medically cleared of not (and N-squared is both according Coach Sanderson himself). No way, no how...Nick needs some warm-up matches prior to b1g's or going out against somebody the caliber of Snyder. Sending him out cold like that on his first match back would have risked Nick potentially re-injuring himself.

I think the threat of reinjury is very low with this type of injury. From everything I have read, getting back to 100% strength is the biggest challenge; and no I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn a few months ago.

I thought to qualify for a second medical redshirt you had to miss a certain percentage of two seasons due to injury, not just because you redshirted as a true freshman?

There must be some professional (MD or not) who could knowledgably comment on this point. No disrespect Tiger.

He did. Last year broken foot as Scuffle. This year torn peck. He is eligible to apply and should get a 6th year if he is not ready this year. That being said it is not a gaurentee though likely.

I was saying I was all in if he wanted to go this year and the criteria mentioned was met. Agree with you that he should not start with stud like Snyder with so little time in the room.

Jensen hurt his knee and defaulted against Gwiazdowski tonight. No word yet on the severity.

If it's serious and he can't go for B10s, that's really bad news for Nevills -- one less auto qualifying spot with Snyder already stealing one, and a guy Nevills could outplace.

My prayers are with Nick and his family. They will make the correct call period.

El-Jefe, what's your best guess on number of Big 10 auto-qualifiers?
