I can remember the Greg Garrity diving catch for the 1982 National Championship, and Lavar on the cover. What others have there been and which were the best!
I remember one cover that read "Prodigious Penn State." I can't recall the photo, but I think it might have been 1982.
Todd Blackledge against UNL
Another one had the defeat of #1 Notre Dame in 1990. Some defensive player was tackling a ND player, but I can't recall either guy.
Darren Perry
Another had Freddie Scott after we beat Michigan in 1994.
" The new #1
LaVar was on the pre-season 1999 cover.
Probably SI had a cover shot of Mike Guman's failed TD atempt vs Alabama.
Did SI do regional covers back in the day?
My personal favorite!I can remember the Greg Garrity diving catch for the 1982 National Championship, and Lavar on the cover. What others have there been and which were the best!
Thanks PSUSignore. Here's 1 I loved and forgot about from your search:JoePa was on the cover several times as well. Joe Jurevisious (sp?) was on the cover in the late 90's, either 97 or 99. And of course there was the unfortunate "we were" cover in 2011.
Here's a link to a quick Google images search result.

In my opinion, those were the only ones that DON'T matter! SI wasn't the only form of sports media to jump the gun and try to bury Penn State like ESPN did. It was their chance to sensationalize a big story to sell more magazines without all the facts. I don't condone their actions, but let's face it, they were both there when things started to turn around to be kind to Penn State. They have a tremendous affect on the general sports fans, so let's hope they jump on our bandwagon once we win our next B1G Championship and subsequent MNC.The only ones that matter were...

Special Report: The Failure and Shame of Penn State
After those, SI is little more than a liner for my dog to shit on.
