What does anyone know about Rune Lawrence?

Rune is the kind of name Robert Plant would have picked for a son during Robert’s dabbling in Welsh Mysticism

He is a sophomore at Frazier High School and just won his second WPIAL championship by pinning his three opponents in under thirty seconds, combined! He won Escape the Rock this year at 172.
FWIW, that was only the opening 3 matches, though he did add a pin in the semis in the first period. Rune is the younger brother of Thayne, a 2x state champ and 3x finalist now at Lehigh. Gonna be a high level prospect but not super sure how his style will translate in college. Obviously an extremely talented kid though.

Thanks.

Strong possibility he'll be a 4x PA champ, and the heaviest ever other than Thomas Haines.

Nolan Lear this year will be the toughest Hershey match in the rest of his career, unless Grant Mackay or Wes Barnes moves up next year (which isn't certain, and Lear might be a tougher match anyway).

He's probably a slightly better prospect than Thayne, but comparable. (Thayne is having a good but not great 2nd redshirt year; Facundo beat him in November.) If Rune ends up at 174, we're in better shape with Facundo. If he ends up 184, he's not an improvement over Barr.

Way early but guessing he ends up at Lehigh with Thayne.

Lear won the section today with 3 pins. 17 seconds in the finals. Not surprising because the best two guys bumped up to get away from him. He'll see the youngest Garcia at districts which should give him a challenge.

Might as well go ahead an pen those two in for D4 and NE Regional finals.

Add Lawrence + Jacob Jones (Saucon Valley), and that's probably the top 4 in the state. The other returning placers stayed down at 152/160.

Either way Lawrence + Garcia will be on one side and Lear + Jones on the other. If Lear wins NE, he and Jones will split the 2-3 seeds. If Garcia wins NE, he'll get the 4 due to lack of placement points.

Hoping my 3rd cuz comes to PSU. Ty Watson is at Penns Valley, undefeated, sophomore, just won district's.

Best of luck to him. Looking at D5 and D7 results, he has a good shot at winning SW Regionals and should make states regardless. Offhand he has a pretty good shot at a state medal, though some of that will depend on how he does at regionals -- there are a few returning medalists at AA 145, and being a regional champ would help.
