Options seem to be:
1. Replacing Wallace with Effner as was done in the 2nd half last night - anyone know how many series or what part of the 2nd half Effner played?
2. Moving Tengwell to right OT where he was solid in the game last season when a good many of the OL players were out sick. I believe he played right OT in that game - anyone remember? Wormley and Nourzad would then start at Guard and Wallace could practice at Guard as a backup along with the younger inside olinemen.
3. Or maybe Trautwein has enough confidence in the true freshman Drew Shelton to move him from backing up Fashanu on the left side, over to compete to start at right OT. Shelton was a top recruit and reportedly is coming along pretty fast. And if he could play better than Wallace would be a longer term solution, who could always move back over to the left side later in his PSU career after Fashanu is gone. It seems that Effner has played all over the OL and could then back up Fashanu as well.
Obviously moving the least amount of olinemen would be the least disruptive but with ohio coming to town now is the time to make a bold move to improve the OL.
In Franklin's post game press conference he said that they had planned to substitute on the OL, but that Wallace "has some things he needs to work on"..... But if he has been working on those "things" for the last 3.5 years while at PSU, what are the odds that he can correct those "things" during the next week?? Time has come for a change in personnel.....
