What year was the "too much crowd noise" penalty called against us vs. UM?

And bonus points if there's a link to be had to an online version. I was telling someone about this and they said I was FoS. I may be FoS on a lot of things, but not this one.

I believe it was '93.

1993. Penn State was not penalized, but was charged a time out. The first, and last time this has ever happened in a Big Ten game.

Along with...

-The "shush" hand to mouth signal after a touchdown resulting in a 15 yard penalty. At Iowa 2012

-The "illegal jumping" call for a half the distance call in overtime. Home, Ohio St 2014

-An on field reversal of a call after an opposing coach complained, PRE REPLAY. Home, vs Iowa, 2000

-Heel Toe being called IN BOUNDS on a catch. At Michigan, 2005.

Ball breaks plane of goal line, no touchdown, AFTER replay. At Nebraska, 2012.

Replay review of non interception, not overturned due to "failure of replay equipment". Home, Ohio St, 2014.

Interference called on play where receiver JUMPS IN TO defensive back. At Iowa, 2008.

I have a lot more too: Calls that were never made before, or after, in Big Ten play: All in Penn State games. All going against Penn State.

Anybody who says we make up bullshit about refs can refer to this fact.

I have Nebraska fans for buddies and they left the Big 12 because they kept getting screwed and even THEY think it's a joke how PSU has been shafted.

Well maybe be not completely FOS but just a little.
It was our first seasons in the big10 '93 and it wasn't a penalty, although that might have been the next step, we were charged a time out. Oddly enough this also was called against tOSU against guess who? LOL.

Under what rule could a time out be charged?

Having one of your "time outs" removed is a penalty

The Toe Heel thing still drives me crazy. I've literally seen that 20+ times since then and it is always called OOB - not even a question

I know of at least twice we got it for a player going "shush-finger" at a road game and I've never once seen another player from another school get flagged for it, not ever, and it's done all the time. 15 unsportsmanlike.

Wasn't Tony Johnson ruled out of bounds for a catch at Michigan game, that would've led to at least a game tying FG.? Somewhere around 2003

Yes he was. He should have gotten credit for just catching the ball alone as he had stonehands that year. He had 3 steps in bounds on that play. Pretty sure that was the same as the :02 game. We went to ann arbor 7 times in a row, the hows and whens of how we got screwed each game blend together.

I was at that game, at least five hideous calls went against us there. That game, along with several others that year, (Our home game against Iowa, two other Big teams losing at Mich due to bad calls) led to replay being installed in the Big Ten the following year. It went national the year after.
