Update: Things are on an uptick for Penn State with recruiting just as they are on the field. I have moved Lamont Wade back up to the top category as I would really be surprised right now if he ends up choosing another school other than Penn State in December when he is set to choose. I think after their visits for the OSU game that we will land one of Harris or Davis. Harris’s was an official visit but Davis’s was not. Be interesting to see if Davis does come back for an official. I’ve moved Donovan Johnson down at the moment, while we are in his top 3, he hasn’t been back on campus and doesn’t have an official scheduled that I know about. This could be the staff backing off bc they now feel confident on Wade, or could be Michigan picking up steam with him set to offer. Either way at this point I don’t think he’ll end up at Penn State.

Elijah Conliffe was on campus this weekend for his official visit and our main competition remains Alabama, but with all of the DTs that they are into that may give us a slight edge. Conliffe has MANS body already at 305 and has the frame to support even more muscle. He would be the DT prospect we’ve been missing the last few years. As one goes up, another goes down. Dalyn Wade-Perry is still holding out for his Stanford acceptance sometime this month, but has also set up other visits; FSU on 11/25, UCLA 12/9 and Stanford 1/12. Being that he hasn’t been to campus since the summer and our last home game is the 26th and he already will be in Tallahassee, I feel he may have moved on from PSU. Corey Bolds also made it to campus for his official this weekend (previously planned for OSU) and has us listed among his leaders. I don’t think Michigan is really considering him anymore as they have 5 D-Lineman committed, while only one is a true DT the other two are our old friends James Hudson and Donovan Jeter, both players we targeted as future DTs. Fred Hansard, current Florida commit, took in the game on Saturday and I’ve added him to the Flip Watch. I’ll talk more about them later, but interesting to see his name return as long as there are no eligibility issues. I’ve added Yusuf Corker 3/4* corner from GA to In The Battle. Scout reported that he took his official visit this weekend, however I haven’t seen him on anyone else’s list. He is announcing on his birthday 12/26; Tennessee was his previous leader. I also noticed Scout has Proctor listed as officially visiting 1/22/17. This would mean we will be his either last or second to last visit before his hat pick on NSD. Will we finally win one of those?! Kyree Campbell of the 2016 class was on campus again this weekend. Currently attending Wyoming Seminary Upper School after failing to qualify for UNC he would be another option at DT and he is 6’4” 320 already. Obviously, you can see there is a push for DT down the stretch. I moved Anthony Hines and Jordan Anthony down a rung as they are setting visits elsewhere and just seem like a bit of stretch where things are now. With Jordan Anthony there may be time to get him on campus again, for Hines it was good to be considered and maybe we’re close enough that a coach’s visit could do it but I don’t feel like it’s going to happen.

As promised; looking at the Flip Watch, just remember some of these names were offered or visited post commit, others the staff has made it clear they are still in on and one or two of them are on there just because they are targets who we were after who’s committed locations are having rough seasons. Hansard re-appearing is interesting, there will certainly be more work to do to get him than just this weekend. The two biggest names to watch are IMG Academy teammates Robert Hainsey and Josh Kaindoh. Hainsey has still been tweeting ND stuff but this season has to be wearing on him and we did have a big lead on him in the past, and Franklin was down there to talk to him during the bye week. Josh Kaindoh recently has tweeted nothing about UMD and twice retweeted Penn State related things. He also took an Official Visit to FSU 10/14. I gotta believe the plan for both is to try and get them on campus during winter break. Hainsey is enrolling early so he would be the tougher logistic flip. Right now, if I were Maryland I’d be viewing Kaindoh as a silent decommit. Spence is friends with Kaindoh but after his cancelled visit and with how much attention we are paying to other DTs and how much Spence’s social media is into UMD, I doubt he is much of a target anymore.

Here is the list of visitors from this weekend:
2017 commits: OV: Miranda. Unofficial: Barber, Clifford, Franklin, Hippenhammer. Targets: OV: Wade, Conliffer, Bolds, Corker. Unofficial: Hansard, Campbell, Pinnock (not yet offered).

Is there any reason to think that either Webb or Swift would consider flipping?

Thanks for the update. After this kind of a season, the fan in all of us would expect these kids to stampede to the front of the commitment line. Obviously that is not happening because these kids actually take other things into consideration. But I think we finish stronger than last year. I think we see the payoff in 2018 and 2019, if the winning continues.

As pleased as I am with the performance of the LB and D line groups over the last few games, I still think this is where we need to get a few more high end bodies. If we ever want to match up with the likes of Alabama, we will need to have stout D linemen and plenty of them.

Kaindoh also plans on enrolling early.
I looked at his 247 and it didn't have that listed, but I thought I had seen it before.

EDIT: I do see an article from Oct 21st, saying he is enrolling early. Wonder why it isn't on his 247 profile.

How many scholarships do you think are left to fill?
There are 3 right now, without any one leaving the roster (includes Sorrell's now open schollie). If you just look at the Depth Chart you can start to see where maybe some guys have been passed over and will look elsewhere. I would guess 2 to 4 more spots become open and the class can go to 21 or so. There is always one knucklehead too. Probably get 7 more commits before calling it a class. With a couple guys on the board making late decisions it will be more difficult to manage for Franklin. Other schools will say, we don't care when you decide, we'll make room. That's not what he does.

Kaindoh still hurts, he seemed to be solidly for us for a long time and then poof!!

Love the information, and it's free, which makes it even better.:)

Yeah, for the longest time it seemed Kaindoh was in the bag for us. Until he wasn't.

I thought you didn't list recruits without offers, and last time I looked 247 did not show PSU having offered Zandier. I believe if/when PSU offers he will be a commit in short order..... as he has been to campus as much as any recruit.

Reading some articles on Kaindoh, I would be surprised he would flip b/c he stated he wanted to come home and be part of rebuilding. He is a kid that seems to be motivated to become the best he can be and looks like a good fit for PSU. Spence seemed more likely to flip as I got the impression he is looking around, but aren't Kaindoh and Spence pretty close? Maryland has a strong class, so will be interesting if Durkin can keep it together.

Cherpak released a statement the other day that said Zandier would choose between Michigan State, WVU, and some other school that I can't recall. Didn't mention us or Pitt. Now, Cherpak hates us, so no surprise there, but if Pitt won't offer the kid when he goes to a high school coached by an alum who has funneled most of his best players to Pitt over the years, that should tell you something. Particularly when you look at their current list of recruits, which is underwhelming to say the least.

You are correct in that I normally don't I did with him a little while ago because I thought he would get one and commit eventually. That's looking less likely. I did the same thing with Valentine last year.

Seeing what happened to UMD's class last year, their performance this year, and reading between the lines on Kaindoh, I just don't know. He OVed at FSU 10/14. So, he's willing to visit places. If I'm right I'm way ahead of the curve, if not he's the most pro Penn State player to ever sign with UMD.

Here are his last two retweets that concern anything college football:

What's the word with 2018 QB Justin Fields?
Tenn had momentum but they are in a slide and we are on the rise. I think the revolt at Tenn had something to do with it. He had also visited Auburn and UGA, neither have offered yet, however academics are very important to him. I really hope he picks us and hope it's in the not to distant future. Would be a huge get.

I recall awhile ago, maybe over the summer, PSU was involved with a DL from Europe. Anyone know he is still an option for us?

Is this legit? Just a fun visit, or a real chance to get him?

The Rivals article opens with the fact that GA has had "inconsistencies" from playing Frosh. That doesn't seem to bother Webb -
Yet Webb is looking around.

Who knows? Mark is from PA and PSU is a hot team on the rise now.

Getting good recruits to visit is an important step. Our games have been exciting this year.

Developing...

I thought during the summer, we were Mark Webb's #1. And then the uncertainty with Franklin and PSU happened earlier this year along with Georgia having a new coach. Now things are flipped.

I remember when we offered him as a Freshman back when we were recruiting Bates and Cooper. PSU and Franklin has probably had one of the longest relationships with him.

The only uncertainty with Franklin and PSU were based only on what the inter webs were saying and media picked up on

It was never any uncertainty. Get past it.

Ok, bad choice of words. Well, it's doesn't and never existed so I won't mention it.
