In the past, ESPN has usually picked a match that was almost certain to happen, then start hyping it early as the marquee match.

Taylor/Dake, Guiz/Snyder, Bo/MyMar ...I'm not seeing that kind of match this year.

I'm thinking Bo vs Moore might be the most likely #1 vs #2 in the finals, but I don't see ESPN choosing that as their Marquee match.

Probably a good thing for wrestling overall.

I think Ashnault and Micah are Clear 1 and 2 at 149 and will meet in the finals. Assuming it will have no team title implications (so very likely), I'll be rooting very hard for Micah (nothing against Ashnault). He's just a good, classy kid that's easy to root for. That being said, I think Ashnault has his number and gets him a third and final time.

Chances of a Jordan getting ridden like a mule and dropped to the backside are high. It's an annual tradition.

149 (Ashnault-Jordan), 165 (Marinelli-Joseph) and 197 (Bo-Moore) seem most likely, with Nolf-Berger not far behind. 149 isn't a very compelling storyline, so I'd go with one of the others (probably Bo vs. Moore) as the match to promote.

they should hype the 133 and 165--many barn burners will happen in both weight classes

But there is no Zain or Jason at 149 to do that. Not saying Jordan will make the finals but I certainly think it's better than 50-50 that he does.

I think the 2-time defending National champion trying to defend his NCAA title by defeating his conference tournament nemesis who denied him a conference championship again is a compelling story. Cenzo-Marinelli, if Bo gets to the final.

I'm going with white and cassar .I think cassar has that come back storyline that everyone wants to see and root for .

What about Nolf V. Berger .. I know Nolf has dominated him thus far but the comments about bringing back Jason's head may fuel the hype a little more?

Off topic, I just noticed White's side of Heavy ... my goodness this is frustrating, the 4/5 seed are 2 guys Anthony has majored and instead he'll face Gable. Dhesi isn't even on that side.

I'm not going to lie, I'll pull for anyone but White on that side to get into the finals, nothing against him personally. In many ways, he reminds me of Anthony, a hardworking disciplined heavy weight lifting former 197 pound guy. This is just my way of coping haha

I am aware that White losing will mean Anthony has to meet him if he loses to Gable but I still wouldn't mind a rematch.

Definitely Cenzo and Marinelli. It might not be the sexiest matchup from a media perspective, but it's one that I'm most looking forward to.

Which is crazy cause other than the SV win against Schultz (who wrestled Bo tougher than others) Moore has been a clear #2 at 197 IMO. I truthfully don't think Weigel will have much for him.

I’m sorry, but I really like Micah the person, but I can not ever recall a wrestler that got as dominated by Nolf the previous year and ending up as the Champion the following year. Has this s ever happened before? I agree with your post, I’d like to see Micah win.

Well, there was that one guy (his name is escaping me right now) who got pinned by Bubba....

It's a bit different though to get caught vs flat out dominated. DT got careless on a shot and was cradled (and Bubba fully earned it) and even if DT never got caught, he very well could have still lost that match but I don't think Bubba would have "dominated" him in a 7 minute match.

Micah (for as elite he is in neutral) got all his shots stuffed, couldn't fend off any of Jason's shots (including getting carried back onto the mat), couldn't come close to registering an escape and gave up 12 NF points to power halfs. Nolf loves cutting his opponents for another chance to take them down but against Micah, he was never going to let him up and wanted to just dominate him. I think the match ended around 4:30.

I agree. But I couldn't resist the snark. Getting pinned one year (regardless of how) and winning the next year is still a nice turnaround.

"I choose bottom" ring a bell?

Besides Frank M (against Dake) and Lavion Mayes (against Zain) what are some other dumb decisions that's been made in NCAA?

My pick has to be McKenna taking neutral against Bryce Meredith, even if Joey secured a TD, Bryce can easily get out ad it's still knotted at 2-2? (I forgot if RT was a factor) You basically gave Meredith the option to go defensive!

IDK, I would like to see re-match between White-Cassar. Sure there is the possibility of a Cassar loss but I would rather see a tight compelling match. That said, IMHO Cassar needs to open it up a little bit v. White.

This probably needs to be a different thread, but I'm still spitting mad about Conaway choosing bottom in the third against Montoya in his last match.

McKenna had 38 sec RT in the 2nd period. So, If he got a TD in the 3rd, he only needed 22 sec to get a RT point and could have won 3-2.
I assume that was part of the decision making on the choice to go neutral.

Realistically they should arrange the matches like the Powerade finals and start with Bo or Jason and end with the other. I mean only the sith deal in absolutes but, death, taxes, and Jason and Bo

The most intriguing match isn't a 1 vs 2. Hall vs Valencia is the made for TV finals but Valencia will need to get past Lewis. If he does I think that's the closing match on espn.

Fix vs Suriano could also generate some buzz. Nolf and Bo will be the deserved lead strories but the lack of competition for them hurts their chances to be the marquee finals match. Joseph and Marinelli could also easily be the marquee match if Marinelli can navigate that bracket.

I'll take Weigel over Moore. I think he will be a good match for Moore and will come away with a close victory.

In the past ESPN has waited until after the semi-finals to pick the last match.

I think Marinelli/Cenzo is happening again. Hopefully Cenzo wrestles his own match instead of trying to make a statement

After what Bo did (and said) in Cleveland Id be suprised if he wasnt the nightcap. Mr. Excitement

If Weigel has a dominating run to the finals with an upset of Moore then 197 could get the final match but Bo dominating Moore for he 3rd time won't be the made for TV matchup ESPN will be looking for.

They may not announce it until after Semis, but it's often not hard to tell which match they are hyping the most.

They were on the Snyder/Coon rematch from the beginning last year. The only way that is not the final match is if one of them gets upset. Snyder/Gwiz and Dake/Taylor were 2 others

Im picking Weigle in both my pools.
