Which PSU grappler are you most interested to see ...

174 - Big question mark. This weight is wide open. Can Bo be an immediate contender for a title or does he need some time?

Nolf, Nickal, Nevills (N Cubed). I think there will be a lot of bonus points from those three. Cael has already said that Nickal reminds him of Quentin and would not be surprised to see a lot of pins.

I'd say Nickel...125,133,141,149, 197 are made guys...they are good but the weight bumps will be interesting. I'm fairly confident Nolf is top 5. HWY will be interesting but I'd really will like to see how much Bo has progressed. I think he will be key to how you guys do in March.

With a gun to my head I would have to pick Bo.

As an outsider - I'd say Bo Nickal, I'm curious to see if he's all that's advertised, not sure we saw it in a shortened redshirt year last season.

And the Nolf, Nevils and Nickal will NOT disappoint in their 1st campaigns. I expect not to be shocked by their success. Nolf will have Nico success, with Nevils and Nickal being All-American's.

Most interested to see Nickal. Q was one of my favorites and hearing the comparisons on big move ability gets me excited.

Several mentioned Bo Nickal, so I thought I'd give you a little bit on his past year.

Like most freshman, when he first arrived at PSU Bo was getting handled pretty soundly by the older guys, and the NLWC guys. Bo worked hard, and raised his game. Later in the season he was wrestling DT, and he pinned him. Reportedly, DT did not take too well to being pinned by the true fresh. I've gotten conflicting reports that Bo pinned DT a few more times after the initial incident, but stories from the room can be very tough to confirm, and I can only state with certainty that the 1 pin took place.

Factor that into your projections. ;)

Well, Tom, that's a fun little tidbit of info....

*whiiiiissssssstttlllllleeeeee*

Taylor probably took one look at that newly-blonde hair and froze.

Seriously, what I'll take from this: gotta love a true freshman who isn't afraid to mix it up with David Taylor -- especially considering how many college All-Americans (including a national finalist) flat-out refused to do so.

I think Nickal's success this year will be based largely on bottom -- because that's usually the weak link for freshmen, and he's already very dangerous on feet.

Terrific story. Thanks for sharing Tom! Nickal is indeed special. While I appreciate what your saying about his mat skills being an area to focus on, I was always in awe of his scrambling ability. If you watch his matches with Hall, he would always seem to be able to get the edge in the scrambling department against an elite scrambler.

So, while getting out from bottom in college is what we will all be interested to see, I am not worried a bit about his scrambling mat capabilities.

Tom, that has to be the biggest (What happens in the room, stays in the room) out there. Most anyone else I would have to call on it. There must of been some funky scrambling going on. Bet some coaches were smiling.

I would love to see Bo Nickal against Chance Marstellar. I remember that was supposed to be a match up at the Dapper Dan. Many of us didn't think Bo would have a chance. I think Bo would win convincingly now.

I seem to remember Cael indicated Bo was giving Brown plenty of good competition in preparing for Nationals.

We will get to see Nolfy against a sucked out Chance this season most likely.

They are 2 weight classes apart.

Relative terms ... in Stilly, if they don't entirely disappear when they turn sideways, they're not sucked out.

Really? An entire season could be tough at 157 for CM. He'll do well, but can he be elite there? Can't wait to see
I know someone on here said different, but a person I trust whose son worked out with CM a lot in HS told me he weighed in mid to low 60s his senior year. I never saw him step on a scale, but I have no reason to doubt the person who told me. Someone also said he showed up after summer at 165, so if that is the case it shouldn't be tough.

Thanks for the info Racer, gosh 157 is gonna be a fun weight to follow this year nationally.
