For what ever reason. Do you have other college teams you root for, or at least not against? Your kids go there. You get pissed at Franklin. You like the coach. etc.

1. The Service Academies
2. Colorado Buffaloes - I lived there for a few years as a kid at the height of the Bill McCartney era.
3. Florida/South Carolina. - loved Spurrier as a coach. It just stuck.
4. West Virginia - Spent a lot of time in Morgantown growing up. Penn State light during Don Nehlan’s days.

Almost ashamed to admit it second only to Penn State I followed Nebraska during the Tom Osborne years. Also followed Arizona State a lot over the years after seeing a special on Camp Tontozona years ago.

Back in the day, it was Notre Dame. Had to be, growing up Irish Catholic in a working-class family of immigrant stock in NEPA.

There were some titanic games against Catholic-hating southern powers during that period. Alabama. Texas. Those were wars. Some of the best games in college football history.

Still, I always rooted for Penn State during our great series with the Irish in the 1980's and early 90's. After that, somewhere along the way, Notre Dame stopped being Catholic. At which point...I stopped caring about them. At this point: screw 'em.

Nobody

Ohio State, because I live in Michigan!

Michigan has been my most hated team for ages. The sense of elitist entitlement for a program that has won 1/2 a title since the 1940s. As such, Ohio State is the whole enemy-of-my-enemy in my universe. I respect them -- they're a football factory and don't pretend otherwise. And they've been very good at making Michigan fans miserable over the past 20 years.

Aside from the '94 thing, I really respect Nebraska. Fantastic fans and great tradition. GBR!

Beyond that, my rooting interests are situational.

Other than PSU, I root for Oklahoma, because my wife went to school there. They are allot of fun to watch. The Big12 in general is a blast, I used to live in Kansas, so like KSU also.

I just heard about their coach taking the USC job. Wow.

Mine are basketball-only schools:

Providence College bc I lived near it for years after college, would get a 6-pack of tickets every year.

Grand Canyon Univ - current Master's student there, fun team to follow (they want to be the next Gonzaga and are really funding the program and top-notch facilities to make it happen)

Gonzaga - father's law school

Georgia State - I don't follow them, but will cheer for them if they are on TV (football)

MSU since '58 as a kid, then college.
Other schools: the usual Wolverine opponents.

,,,cheers

I'm done with CFB this year. If the Lions ain't in the hunt or close to the top four at this point, I see no point in watching other teams or some shitty bowl game.

Nobody. It makes it tough to be a true fan but when the following teams are out of it I could care less who wins:

Penn State at every sport there is.
Yankees
Steelers
Tiger Woods

No one.

I root for Penn State in every collegiate sport. I want every other college team to lose. In pro sports I root for the New York Yankees and Golden State Warriors. I especially hate the pitters in every collegiate sport.

Generally against the rest of the big ten. that's about it. Lately I find myself rooting for Bama or Clemson just for more continuity. If we can't have nice things I'd rather no one else did either, but since someone has to have a nice thing at the end of the day I'd rather it just be the same old.

I guess I want Iowa (would have preferred the badgers) to beat Michigan this week, because I think it benefits us for UM to fall short again, I won't watch so doesn't really matter.

There are a few schools beyond Penn State I genuinely like and pull for almost all the time. Stanford is my Pac-10 school. Colorado is my traditional Big Eight/12 school. Virginia is my ACC school. I dont' have an SEC team. F those guys. Beyond that, I pull for service academies, BYU, directional Michigan schools because people make fun of them and schools with interesting mascots.

You say the same thing about the Pope. I'm fairly sure that both he and the Notre Dame student body and alumni would be surprised to hear that they are not Catholic.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers....all it took was one game.....

Stanford. Years ago my cousin's son played football there so I root for them but since he graduated I do it in a minor sort of a way. I also like the way they run their program.

Texas A&M because Johnny football is my favorite college football player who didn’t go to PSU, and they were so fun to watch in 2012 with him, Mike Evans, and Kliff Kingsbury as the OC! I like what they are doing now too with Jimbo at the helm, and I hope someday PSU has a home and home with them bc I would love to see a game at College Station!

For the rest of this season I’ll be rooting for Michigan to win the big ten championship and to do well in the playoffs. They deserve it after all they’ve been through, and I’m a big Aidan Hutchinson fan! They are like the PSU of old with the way they run the football, and I wish we would get back to that style of play.

You Love Johnny football.......but you worship 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Makes sense.

Starting around week 10 or so I start to root for anarchy.
What will most screw up and point out the numerous flaws to the current screwed up way in which they determine a National Champion?
It has served me well in the Bowl Alliance, BCS, bowls plus one, and 4 team playoff modes of selection thus far.

I liked those Tom Osborne led Husker teams in particular the Tommy Frazier led teams. That option running game was just punishing and fun to watch.

I don't know why, but I enjoy watching the old school option teams much more than today's offenses. I should have been born before the invention of the forward pass.

Clarion University Golden Eagles
and
Hickory Hornets where our motto is "Pull my finger and you'll get the stinger".

and, of course the Washington Generals.
