Looking forward to heading back to War Memorial Field in Doylestown for Coatesville and Central Bucks West. Lots of great memories over the years at this venue, it's been a long time. These two schools met in the first two D1 championship games back in 1992 and 1993. Red Raiders will most likely have too much fire power for the Bucks, but here's to a good game. Mesquito Grille for the pregame.

Thought about going to the Richland Penns Valley game or BEA Westmont.

Headed to Minneapolis tomorrow afternoon or would be at a Central Missouri High School playoffs.

Unfortunately the winner of that game is just being led to the slaughter. The playoffs have become somewhat meaningless, unfortunately.

Does anyone know why 2A and 5A WPIAL schools are not playing at Heinz field this year for the championship? And it looks like the 5A championship game is a different day from the 1A, 3A, 4A, and 6A.

Because of the six classes do they now rotate who plays there each year?

The WPIAL Class 2A and 5A playoffs each have 16 teams...only 8 teams make the playoffs in all of the other classes. Class 2A and 5A championships were not at Heinz Field last year either. Even if all classes had the same number of teams make the playoffs, 2 of the championships would not be at Heinz Field because they can't play 6 games in one day at Heinz and the WPIAL is not going to pay the extra money to rent Heinz Field for 2 days. If all 6 classes had equal number of teams in the playoffs, they probably would rotate the 4 classes that play their championships at Heinz each year.

I appreciate the explanation!

Cheltenham vs Cocalico.
I played at Cheltenham back in the 70s.

I can't make it to the game but... Go Jersey Shore! They are playing Dallas in Danville.
Jersey Shore is playing in the state semifinals for the first time after winning its first state tournament game two weeks ago.

My sons team scrimmaged Jersey Shore in the preseason the last 2 years. They have a fine well coached well disciplined and balanced team.

Nothing to see in District 11. Two good, exciting district winners (Nazareth and Southern Lehigh) got Mercy Ruled last week by Catholic schools from Philly. It's an annual ritual.

Great game today between gateway and archbishop wood. AW wins 24-21with last minute fg.

Cheltenham and Cocalico in a real shoot-out. It's 36-35, Cheltenham, with 3:53 left in the 3rd qtr

since I made my earlier post:

- Cocalico with a TD, and a failed PAT, 41-34, Cocalico
- Cheltenham with an 88-yard KO return, and a failed PAT, 42-41, Cheltenham
- Cocalico with a 55-yard run for a TD, and converted the 2-pointerer, 49-42, Cocalico
- Cheltenham with a 28-yard run for a TD, and a good PAT, 49-49

6:38 left in the game. Those that attended are getting good entertainment for their admission cost

Sounds like one of those 'whoever has the ball last wins' with back & forth.

Cocalico misses a 28-yard FG attempt, so it's still tied @ 49, with 3:17 left

To summarize the results:

6A:
Central Dauphin defeated Downingtown West, 65-44
St. Joe's Prep plays Pittsburgh Central Catholic tomorrow in the other semi

5A:
Cheltenham defeated Cocalico, 56-44
Archbishop Wood defeated Gateway, 24-21

4A:
Dallas defeated Jersey Shore, 56-28
Thomas Jefferson defeated Lampeter-Strasburg, 44-2

3A:
Wyoming Area defeated Tamaqua Area, 21-0
Central Valley defeated Bald Eagle Area, 45-0

2A:
Southern Columbia defeated Richland, 49-27
Avonworth defeated Wilmington, 33-21

1A:
Bishop Guilfoyle defeated Lackawanna Trail, 11-7
Farrell defeated Clairton, 13-10

Crushed? The score was 43-36, and that was the weakest Imhotep team in the last 10 years.
What, are you one of the 7 Imhotep fans? Fine they didn’t crush em but a very nice win over the Philly all stars.

Dallas and Wyoming Area in the state finals. Probably the 1st time in 25 years that 2 teams from D2 made the finals the same year.

2A Southern Columbia beat 4A semifinalist Jersey Shore 56-14 and 3A finalist Wyoming Area 42-0 back to back this year. Not too shabby.

SC is a case where classification is not really relevant. With multiple FBS Recruits and a number of other kids that could potentially play FCS, Div 2 & Div 3 they would be a handful for just about any team in any classification.

If both these schools win a title that would be huge for The WVC.

SJP wins a thriller 31-24 in OT. They needed a great catch from Marvin Harrison Jr with 15 seconds left in the 4th to send ot to OT.
