Who was the best QB ever to play football, at any level?

Chuck Burkhart. He never lost a game he started in high school or college.

Im taking high school, d-3,d-2, and NAIA out of the equation. Montana, Marino perhaps, but in the the last 30yrs there have been some rediculous college qbs. On college performance there is Peyton, David Carr, others.

College: Carr, Luck, RG3, Kelly, Leaf, etc
NFL: Marino, Montana,

Ill go with Marino, followed by Namath and Montana.

Roger Staubach
I once asked my dad this question, he said, "Staubach" without hesitation. That gave me an idea so I kept asking that question to guys of my dad's generation, and they all said, "Staubach," except for my uncle, who said, "Johnny Lujack."

The best college quarterback I ever saw was Drew Bledsoe. I've seen a lot of great ones, but I always get back to Bledsoe.

As for the best arm I've ever seen, it's Bradshaw without a doubt. Good gracious me, he could really get the ball downfield.

I once had this discussion about the best arms with a buddy of mine and he said without hesitation, Y.A. Tittle. He told me that he once saw the Giants play the Redskins at DC Stadium (later renamed RFK) and he turned away for a moment and then saw what he thought was a punt, the ball just about scraping the clouds. He then asked himself, "What the hell are they doing punting on second down?" It turned out that what he had seen was a pass downfield by Tittle, he said it was something he'd never forget.

Y.A. Tittle... big arm??? Hmmm.

Young, Staubach, Brady, Manning, Starr, Bradshaw are probably tier 2 with Unitas, Graham, Favre, Elway, Baugh, Montana Tier 1.

Elway. I think you could put him in any era in any style of play and he would excel.

There was this guy I played youth league with, his name was Jimmy D'alesandro, man could he throw the ball, run like a deer. Best I ever saw.

Joe Montana. At the sport's highest level, in four Super Bowls, he did not throw one interception. Not one. No other quarterback can say that. Not one. He outplayed Dan Marino and John Elway, both who played badly in Super Bowls.

Mark Harmon. He might not have won any NCs for UCLA, but he kicks a lot of terrorist (and other bad guy) ass as an NCIS Special Agent...not to mention running with a string of good looking redheads!

Elway could do it all, and once he learned to tame his howitzer, he was the best all-around QB I've seen. In terms of game management/field generals, you'd have to go way back to find QB's who called their own games - Bradshaw, Unitis, and Stauback were among the all-timers in that club. Montana was the original modern-day system QB, and still the best in my book (though Manning is right up there with him). Brady deserves a mention, but he's more a product of Belichick's coaching (and other factors).
