Who was the best QB ever to play football, at any level?

I say Namath before knee surgery and bet the house that the Bear would agree!
Actually, Namath himself said that because he didn't win a MNC Bryant didn't consider him the best QB at Alabama. Bryant did say that Namath was the best defensive player ever at UA.

As to your point, I agree. Namath would have been one of the best ever with good knees.

There are many choices, but I don't know if there is 1 clear choice!

At any level? I'd have to go with Doug Flutie while at BC. Kid carried the entire program for years. They really had no other talent. He elevated that program by himself (since deteriorated).

In an early fit of senioritis I completely forgot about Pat Devlin. Is it too late to change my answer?

Don't know who was best but I'll throw another name into the usual Marino/ Elway/ Montana mix- Fran Tarkenton. His ability to escape and make something from nothing was fun to watch. 9 time pro bowl selection IIRC.

Todd Blackledge or Chuck Fusina.... too close to call
David Conway. At the age of 11 he weighed around 400 pounds. Hardly ever threw the ball, just ran it. Would take 6 or 7 of us to bring him down. Main concern was not to end up underneath him (and the other 6 or 7 guys).

Sounds like the precursor to Jared Lorenzen.

Blackledge was horrible in the pros, he himself will tell you that. He just couldn't get the offenses.

Marino is def top 10. Maybe the best pure passer ever.
