Who is the Best of the Best of the Best? Maverick of Course but we're talking wrestling:D

This poll and headline need the word “potentially” to be surgically removed. Because there is no foresight to predicting a “potential” happening.

I fear the day that Burroughs decides to return to Jersey and keeps the in-state studs at home, and pulls elite wrestlers from out of state. Rutgres could truly become a perennial top 10 then. Hopefully Jordan remembers what New Brunswick is like, or takes over for Manning. Or doesn't coach?

It would be JB if he wanted it, but doesn't seem like he does.

Probably Dake or Taylor. Middle weights, but were tiny tikes at one point and not absolute monsters like Cox/Snyder. Love social media. Tacticians. Huge bases behind them already. Will immediately get a good/great job (which is true for all of these guys, though) so success should come early and sustain.

I went Taylor and Snyder. I'll say this though, I think Nolf would be one hell of a recruiter. Send him in to talk to the parents and I'm sure they would come out begging their kid to pick his school. Especially if they make Christ a huge part of their lives..

If the chatter holds true then JB will be taking over for John Smith at OkState

agree 100% i think it is because Jason is so humble. ever wonder how many kids he has taught the correct placement of the bands at the end of the match and follow suit. i think he uses that time to put things in perspective because you just know he wants to jump up and touch the ceiling and it wouldn't surprise me to witness him doing so. too think he was a Iowa lean-so I hear

Make me choose and I'll say David Taylor, but really this is impossible to evaluate simply because we have no idea what jobs will be open, when, and would be appealing to any of these guys.

For example: would any of them be willing to coach at a tiny school like Cary Kolat is doing?

Also: who is willing to wait how long to head up a better program? Of last year's top 20 teams, only 4 have head coaches over 55. Tan Tom is probably the oldest of the bunch (Iowa '83), and he doesn't seem anywhere near ready to reitre to Aruba.

We could see a wave of coaching retirements in 10-15 years -- how many of these wrestlers are going to wait that long?

Plus so few coaches get replaced for their W-L records.

Smith isn't yet 55 ... and that would be baffling unless their Pat Popolizio and Coleman Scott, younger alums and established head coaches, want to stay east.

I would find that interesting bc 2020 Olympics will probably be towards the end JB's competition and Goodale just signed a 5 year extension. John smith however probably only has a 2 years left of coaching. JB might not step into coaching as a Head Coach right away but i honestly look for him to be coaching for the 2022 season.

Coach Ryan is around the same age as the Coach Brands - they were housemates at Iowa. I believe they graduated around 1992 so they are about 51. John Smith probably graduated around 1988 so he's closer to 55.

John was born Aug 9 1965, which makes him 54. so you're correct :)

You're right, I misread his Ohio State bio, he's class of '93.

This just reinforces my point that the best jobs are likely not available anytime soon.

I believe that JB has said he doesn't want to be a college coach and that he wants to move back to NJ and start a club.

Looks like many of you look at wrestling skills and accomplishments as a gauge on how one will recruit.

Recruiting is all about building relationships, fostering trust and understanding.

A recruiter needs relationships with parents, coaches and wrestlers.
