Why did DC Allen leave Penn State for Clemson?

He had a responsibility to dedicate more than a year at PSU. I am not falling for his sob story.

we aren't being told something and not saying we are owed that but it could make some sense of some things.

Not buying it. All of that was true last year too.
Thanks so much for that. I was worried that you were going to accept a man’s reasoning for making decisions about his own family but now that you have informed us that you aren’t buying it, we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

I can understand the importance of being near family. I'm now in Ohio because of family. But I spent years away from my family because of my commitment to my employer. He could have given us 1 more year for continuity of the program. Did he commit to Franklin for only one year? If so okay! If not , what about the kids on the team he committed to?

What about taking an ideal job when it happens to be available?

One word- family.

Nice article, thank for sharing. He also got a nice raise to go to Clemson. I hope he's successful and can stay more than a season or two.

Penn State will be fine whoever they hire, as long as Coach Barnes keeps recruiting and developing D-linemen. That's the foundation of the defense.

He fulfilled his commitment by coaching through the end of our playoff run. Franklin can fire whichever coach he wants at any time (as he did at the end of last season) and players can leave and go where they want. Assistant coaches should have the same luxury.

This was a no brainer decision and I'm happy for him. I also don't think this is a huge loss for us.

He has a responsibility to himself and his family, and that’s it. Period.
It is symptomatic of the disease in this culture that one can come and go as they please without investing the appropriate amount of time. Sorry, I see him as a loser in this situation. I am sure we will get an upgrade , like Indiana did at head coach.

LOL...the appropriate amount of time...what is that subjectively in your opinion? It's not that serious. I see Beau as doing something worse who bailed on his team in the PLAYOFFS.

This is satire, right?

If you substituted "contractual" for "appropriate" then I might agree with you. But I'm guessing that he did not sign any long-term contract and therefore had no responsibility to stay if he found a better situation for himself and family.

I do agree that we'll probably get an upgrade. But since you bring that up, why are you that upset with him leaving if you think we end up with a better DC?
