Why do people hate Pitt so much?

So PITT has no business playing the game in a few months? The more you guys talk about how irrelevant you think PITT, the more I know you are whistling past the graveyard.

Wonder what the oddsmakers will have PSU winning by!

Go argue your dumbness with steel_curtain/rutgersal.

Generally no. The only reason they even have a prayer this year is because of the unjust sanctions. Enjoy it while you can.

My young son and I were walking up Cardiac Hill to Pitt Stadium for a Penn State-Pitt game. Along the way three adult Pitt fans in their 20s-30s started chanting in his and my face, F*CK you PSU! Repeatedly. It took all I had not to strike them but I knew that wouldn't of ended well for anyone.

I've seen Michigan-Ohio State in person and nothing like that took place as far as I could see, before, during or after the game. It's one thing to confront another adult to do so to a kid, showed me how much total lack of class these three Pitt fans and most likely alums had.

Humans raised by wolves have more class and behave better than Pitt fans.

Two instances for me. Soph year in engineering at PSU and head home for a weekend in SWPA with some friends. End up at Pitt partying with some HS buddies. One is a Mech Eng major in his jr year. We're hanging out in his room pregaming and I see his course load. Three of them I was currently in or taken as a soph . I had to help him with his homework in one of the classes and make a comment about no wonder PSU is rated highly for most engineering disciplines. His friends came back with some school rankings, SAT and acceptance rate, etc about the two schools. Sorry but I witnessed myself and didnt need made up stats.

Second was after the news broke in 2011, I was at the gym here at home near Annapolis and had a PSU shirt on. A man with a Pitt shirt came up to me in the gym and said loud enough for lots to hear, "are you a little boy fu$k*r like everyone else there?" At that point I began to hate all things pitt related.

I usually tell them the kids were Pitt fans and they probably liked it.

PSU has had much better recruiting classes so how are the sanctions affecting the play on the field now? You can only play 11 players at a time!

Pitt fans are not smart enough to understand that recruiting impacts a team several years down the line. Most freshman redshirt. When a team has a really good class or a bad class it is several years before most of the players even see the field. What about that do you not understand?

Obrien started 0-1 sanction recruits in 2012 depending on the lineup and 3-4 in 2013. JF started 16 vs TU and had no scholarship punters or kickers.

Because of their arrogance which their fans treat as intelligence. You have Corporal Radar O'Reilly aka Gridiron stooge who passes himself off as some kind of imitation of Carnac the magnificent when the only thing he can read is the fecal stains he leaves at the bottom of the toilet bowl. He once wrote a post about a PSU game he went to in 2012 and he wrote Mauti's name throughout the post as Multi. He knew damm well how to spell his name but just to be a smart ass he referenced it as Multi just to get a rise out of us. It would have worked except he posted on the Liar board where we are all banned and couldn't correct/complain anyway. A grade A assclown who's a legend in his own mind.

How many drunks I had to step over with wet crapped and urinated pants passed out on the walks.

Part of the "hate" comes from the games very long history of rivalry. Early on Pitt was the Big time program, now PSU (despite the sanction slow down). Since we no longer play the "rivalry" is slowly dying. THIS is a far bigger lose to PITT than PSU. So playing them, PSU has everything to lose and very little to gain.
As for the Pitt fans, many are frontrunners, hence the empty stadium. But a game against "rival" PSU (in the white hats) will bring out the Miami type fans. Actually, Miami is close example of what Pitt has become. NO fan support unless they are winning. As for the students "alcohol" will always bring out the worst in young people with any excuse to get drunk. Location of Pitt is another factor that creates their "fan" base.
