Why "Social Media" is great....

While I sometimes take artistic license in illustrations, this data is real/fact-checked. Before Cael won his first national title, there were rarely more than 4 children named "Cael" a year in the US, with a peak of 8 in 1989. The year Cael won his fourth national title/finished undefeated, 222 newborns were named "Cael." Then the name stayed in the top 1000 names in the US for a decade. Now on average about 55 boys are named Cael a year. At some point maybe Ill look by State to see if any trends there.

Does the data include the many many to spell Cael? It would be interesting if all the versions also went up at about the same time. Things like Cale, Kale, Callie, etc.

@ATron74kg I was looking for you last weekend--I was seated at the press table that I think was right in front of your seat, but I couldn't figure out who you were. Big fan though--hope you had a great time at Trials!

I say go Big, and get them all. Then tell Penn St. were coming for you and will soon own you as we own you in football. Nothing like a top recruit saying yes to help coach Ryan in his rehab.

Unfortunately for this deluded soul, Ryan coaches about as well as he drives

Too soon?

Thanks for posting this! The facility definitely looks better than that first photo I saw a few weeks back, but still feels a bit dark and heavy, fits the Iowa brand of toughness, but I don't care for the feel of it. I don't like the exposed concrete, but the openness of the room and high ceiling is nice. I know the tunnel gets made fun of, but I like they connected the facility to CHA. Will be impressive to walk thru that confined space and emerge into the arena. All in all, an impressive facility and is good for building wrestling in general, just too dark and industrial (and brutalist) for my tastes. Also, credit to Coach Brands and the Iowa leadership for not allowing the facility to be built outside of town. My impression from the interview was that one option was to build the training facility and a smaller arena there.

Regarding the interview, I think Coach Brands did fine. Said the right things like it's not about the brick and mortar but the people in the room. Now he has to get the people in the room ;) He also acknowledged they have to "fix some things", and while that is obvious at least he said it.

One last thought.....while he speaks glowingly of Coach Gable I think it's strange he refers to him as "Gable" and not Coach Gable, or Coach Dan.

I saw this posted elsewhere but only the picture and not the whole instagram post, which is priceless. When I saw it earlierI thought it was fake, but not AJ is posting the same picture so fake or not it will become real. Exactly the type of recruiting advertisement we look forward to without paying a dime.
