Wireless home security system

My daughter moved into an apartment and I wanted to see if any Den members have installed a DIY system.
I have researched Simplisafe and Live Watch. Reviews for Simplisafe are very mixed (many very bad) and no customer support after 6 PM if system acts up. Live Watch has good reviews and states they have 24/7 customer support. Both are portable too.
Anyone have experience installing a wireless alarm system?
