Yeah, that was officiated pretty ****ing awfully for the home crowd lol. Some ridiculous white paddles. On top of that, it was shown in the opening couple of minutes when they tried to caution Thomas for handfighting a guy who was constantly backing up in an upright stance to bait a leg attack for 6min.
I don't think anyone is too worried about it, really. We all saw who was the better wrestler. Sometimes you lose when you shouldn't: thankful this was just an exhibition.
Objectively, you have no issue with the way the match was officiated? Regardless of the two competitors? I'm genuinely curious.
The thing about Gross not being on the clock is that the entire match was all action. It's not like folkstyle where you can call a guy for stalling while his opponent shoots. He was on the legs the entire time. There weren't many opportunities to put Gross on the clock because the entire match was all action. Should they have stopped the match while Gilman was on a leg and put him on the clock?
Another thing to keep in mind, is that number of attacks is not as important in freestyle for passivity. It's not the same as folkstyle stalling.
Yeah--I'm not sure passivity is where the officiating veered off yesterday. Mostly, it was the grounding interpretation, and while I can't get a great angle on the exposure, it doesn't look close to 90 to me.
That belly whizzer/hip tip/okie tip always looks like that. Routinely NOT called, though I it probably should be. I think they got this one correct, oddly enough. You can stay square with Gross in the belly whizzer.
