Would you go watch Penn State football games in a movie theater?

Is there beer?
some...they have to have a license. But people have been known to sneak beer into the stadium or theater.

I'd try, but they might be trying to reach a younger demographic.
one of the best spectator sports events I had was going to a Chicago sports bar when the Bulls were playing the Ewing led Knicks. I was out of town on biz and went by myself to get wings to take back to the hotel room. There was lots of energy so I had a beer while waiting for my order. People around me started to high-five and include me like I was a bulls fan (I am not but went with it just the same). Bulls hit a last second shot and the young lady at one of the nearby tables turned to me and gave me a big smooch. That was fun!

I think that could be a lot of fun. Especially the new theaters with lounge chairs and good food available. I'd certainly consider it.

Serious next level “bread and circus “ vibes going on here, but yeah, I’d give it a try…especially the bowl games. —But Pretty sure I’d ultimately default to gathering in the living room with my friends, though.…always a good time.

Gonna say no.

Bars are constructed to allow movement and interaction with fellow patrons.
Traditional movie theaters are constructed to sit stationary and not interact with people around you.

Not for me. I can get pretty agitated watching the games. If things aren’t going well it can ugly.
I think you'd have to have MPAA ratings by opponent based on the level of profanity and expected misbehavior when things aren't going well. Michigan and Ohio State would probably be NC-17 most years. Iowa and Illinois right now might be R and most of the rest PG-13 or PG.

Not unless they could create a tailgating atmosphere in the theater.

I'm still waiting for games to be broadcast in 3D/VR.

You bring up a valid point. There would likely be a few in the theater that would negatively impact the experience. It happens in a stadium too but I think it may be more personal in a theater.

I would not watch in a theatre. I like to watch PSU and Phillies with just my sons. I get hyper focused and like to follow stats. All the extra people would just distract me. I would watch other games in a theatre but not Phillies/PSU.
I know it sounds weird

Why not? Just a different venue of a watch party. Those big events play themselves out all over the place. Outdoors, basketball arenas, downtowns….

They used to do something like this with pay per view boxing back in the Ali/Frazier/Foreman days. The big screen was pretty cool.
I saw Hagler/Hearns that way, but not in a movie theater, in a civic center.
