Hey clever boy, lets discuss this in person before the game. However, I must worn you I will not allow you to give me oral sex, despite how proud you are of your abilities!

Maybe you're the one who needs to go back to 7th grade for sex ed class.

you deinstalled kaperski if you are using it. It is Russian made. WTF did they fine in there? Am I reading this right?

It's all fear-mongering - nothing but rumor and innuendo. There is ZERO real evidence that Kaspersky Labs is anything but a legit company with a great product.

Yes, I understand all that. Should have been clearer.
What is a Russian hacker going to get from a middle class (100k/yr) worker's home computer? Are these guys really interested in draining the bank account that never has more than $10k in it?
I really don't care that Russia, or NSA for that matter, knows how much porn I watch or can see naked pix of my gf.

This has to be the best post so far in this thread. There is some awful inaccurate advice being given here. I am all for the gov getting rid of Kaspersky, warranted or not, but for the average person, ClarkstonMark is right on this.

Nothing beats "safe surfing!" Safe surfing is the most important! Don't open suspicious emails, attachments, or click on suspicious links. Visit pirated software and porn sites at your own risk! If you are suspicious of a file, or URL, scan it using the VirusTotal site. Some of the best AV out there *IS* Kaspersky (sorry, but it is) Avira, and Bitdefender. Those 3 AV have an excellent long term record over the years. Get a good firewall like Comodo. Rootkit scanners like GMER if you are experienced, or rootkit scanners built into various security products are good to run. VoodooShield is a nice app, but again you should have some experience. AppGuard is good. Malwarebytes is good. Zemana antimalware- the free version for a second opinion multi-engine scanner. If your AV doesn't cover ransomware then look to something like Cybereason Ransomfree which is free of course :) CryptoPrevent, or HitmanPro Alert. I can't stress BACKUPS enough... have a backup of all of your important things. If you would be sick without it then it needs backed up on a regular basis. Backup to an external hard drive, DVD, etc. After making your backup, disconnect the drive from the computer so if you do get hit with ransomware it won't nail your backup drive. Ransomware WILL seek out any attached drive and encrypt it as well. You can manually copy paste to back up or use a free program... EASUS Todo, AOMEI, Macrium Reflect Free, etc. Adblockers go a long way in blocking malicious baloney. Get one free or paid... Adblock Plus, AdGuard, UBlock Origin, etc. Implement a good DNS server... OpenDNS, Google Public DNS, DNS Watch, etc. Stay current and patch/update your computer. Implement EMET from Microsoft. There are a lot of things you can do to have layered security, you just have to figure out what works best for you and your experience level. You may find that some combinations of programs might not get along well or they might slow your computer down... experiment as you can always uninstall. Getting a password manager is a good idea... StickyPassword, Dashlane, LastPass, etc. These can generate very strong random passwords for each of your accounts.
