Wrestle-Offs - PSU & Other National Contenders

Bo could have at least certified at 174, just in case there was an injury or something unexpected happened down the road.
C'mon, now, that's ridiculous...Nickal didn't "choose" to have a zero-body-fat weight of more than 165.3 any more than Abraham Lincoln "chose" to get in the way of John Wilkes Booth's bullet at Ford's Theater. By that logic, couldn't the entire roster have "at least" certified at 125, just in case there was an injury or something unexpected happened down the road to Suriano?

He will gladly buy you 2 beers tomorrow for a single beer today.

Imagine mikey and jammen having a few beers watching a Iowa- Penn state dual. They would be in contention for Nebraska wrestling commentator of the decade while working themselves into a frenzy.

Holy hyperbole.

I simply suggested it would have been nice if Bo certified the weight he wrestled last year in case of unforeseen events.

Abe Lincoln assassination ? I'm sorry I made a suggestion. Cripe.
That's fair...I thought you made it sound like you were saying he made a choice to fail to certify at 174. I apologize...sorry for jumping down your throat.

I'm super pissed I didn't see Doe's post about dissension. Jammen, did you get a screenshot? Anybody? Bueller?

125: Jose Rodriguez fall over Clay Ragon, 1:59
133: Luke Pletcher technical fall over Branden Fitzgerald, 18-3
141: Ke-Shawn Hayes technical fall over Mike Hozan, 19-3
149: Micah Jordan technical fall over Blake Riley Hawkins, 21-5
157: Jake Ryan major decision over Anthony DeCarlo, 16-4
165: Cody Burcher decision over Elijah Cleary, 4-2
184: Myles Martin major decision over Jack Rozema, 20-6
197: Kollin Moore decision over Josh Fox, 5-2
285: Gary Traub decision over Troy Caldwell, 7-4
Tan Tom better pray for no injuries. Other than 133 and 285, depth could be a real problem.

I never thought of him as highly as a lot of other fans did but one other fan did mention how fox was able to wrestle stuedebaker to a 3-0 decision or something like that
Not sure what to make of that -- last year Studebaker lost to McIntosh 2-1 TB in the dual, which indicates a deliberate slow down and block match. He had a decent number of low scoring matches last year.

Plus Studebaker's results got worse on rematches, and not just with Morgan (2-1, 8-2, 16-4). Beat Harner 3-1 SV, then Harner pinned him, both at Midlands. Beat Sprenkle 14-5 in November, 2-0 at nationals. Etc.

Fox keeping it close with Moore could be teammate familiarity, though that certainly did not apply to any other match last night.

Last year we scored 18 points at 174 & 184 combined ... Nickal 18, Cutch 0.

Part of the problem was that when Cutch got hurt before Bigs there were no other viable candidates to replace him.

Even if Nickal scores fewer points at nationals this year, I would think we can make up the difference at 174 ... no matter who wins the job. Plus we will have more flexibility if there is an injury.

Lehigh should have some great matchups on Thursday. Anyone have a preview of what to expect?

Perhaps that's why OSU ditched public wrestle-offs. Most teams have gone this route. Even with PSU, I think Brill caught Nickal and Dinmore beat Gulibon last year. Crazy things happen in the room.

They were talking about that on flo. Just a conversation regarding intra squad matches across the country
