When Pish says things like this -

It comes off kind of rough. Earlier this season I was watching Rutgers-Maryland compete in the football stadium and did a pbp. It was an outdoor event with the season debut of Suriano (the most talked about guy on this forum over the last offseason) and Lewis (one of the more active twitter mouths in D1 Wrestling)...I thought it may interest some - pish made this comment...

I’m sure you think you’re being helpful. But can can care less about Rutgers Pbp. This is a PSU board. Rutgers has s board if you’d like to post there

Perhaps very few did care about the pbp, but why bother to make a comment just to be a jerk? If you don’t care about the topic, move along.

I like pish and I’ve appreciated his input and additions to the board many times...but comments like that rub people the wrong way.

If people want to keep chiming in and piling on me, that's fine I can take it. I'm sure I can bring up dumb comments from almost every poster they made in the past but I'm not petty by nature.

As far as the Rutgers PbP..I will explain my position and take it as you wish. The reason I like this board is a lot of positive stuff about a team we all love. Rutgers has a message board of it's own that was doing Pbp. Personally I found it odd why a PbP of a Rutgers/MAryland match was here on this board. I was harsh in that statement to you..I apologize for that. I probably should have just kept my mouth shut, but I wanted to say something but worded it poorly.

As far as the 2nd response to PA..Gebmo was right..I felt Pa attacked me by asking why I was responding to rankings or worried about rankings..this is a message board after all and I'm not going to lay down when I feel someone trying to belittle my opinion..

Hopefully we can get back to PSU wrestling and stop all this drama.

Dumb is simply perspective. I think whizzing in the short urinal is dumb, but for some people it makes sense.

Only dumb if you dont need it. I don't like touching the urinal cake with my Johnson so I opt for the urinal lowest to the ground. Again the math is what the math is.

All is good my man! It was the product of too much time on my hands and expecting other people to be as intrigued as I was...fair enough to claim that it wasn’t PSU related and perhaps had little relevance to most on here. Damn, December is a SLOW month for us!

@andegre minor bug in the Dual Comparison tool where, if you switch opponents, the prediction changes but the "vs common opponents" record doesn't (though the opponents themselves do). In screenshot I had Cenzo vs Gordon Wolf. Then I used the pulldown to change Wolf to Cole Walter, but the "vs common opponents" record doesn't change.

Yep, that's a known bug. Also, it doesn't update the dual prediction outcome either. Both those will be fixed at the same time when I get to it...

Interesting how things are perceived.

For me, I didn't take Pish69's comments negatively at all. I thought the same thing. It was to me the logical conclusion when seeing those "anomaly's" for people into stats. He just happened to say it on the board. Gut feeling. I'm sure technically he "knew" the answer (its an algorithm and therefore imperfect....like us), but wanted to talk about it. What's wrong with that?

An explanation of the algorithm is NOT necessary since this is obviously an outlier issue. I doubt many (if any) here truly know the inner workings and hidden mechanisms of the algorithm and programming Andegre uses anyway, to be able to truly speak to the issue. So we just say its an algorithm and imperfect.....and debate it.

What escalated this was the negativity in the responses. Pish was not "angry"...at least not until he was asked why bother even posting? Why do you care? I would have been too at that point.

Why talk about rankings? Why debate teams? Because its fun. Helps us learn more about the thing we enjoy. I thought that is why we are all here. Gives us something to enjoy between the matches. Why is one person's question ok and another's not? There is no hierarchy of fans here that I know of.

There is a very subtle condescension at times on the board that ticks people off unnecessarily imo. A little patience with differing personalities goes a long way. I am guilty of it myself so speak from experience. Not everyone "knows" people inside the program or has access to inside information. We don't all think the same way. Not everyone can keep up with things all the time. If someone asks what you think is a "dumb" question....ignore it if you can't be civil about it instead of giving the dig. Let someone more patient answer, or someone with some humor, or no one at all if it doesn't deserve an answer (troll questions).

We do the same thing with visitors. A Vodka comes over who is obviously just trying to instigate, and instead of just ignoring his comments and moving on, we get trigger happy and slap down others (many times in a very subtle unfriendly way) that come in peace, but with a differing view. Same on most boards by the way, but we don't have to be like others. I will say though that we do have some very patient people on this board that do a good job in this way, much better than I would be able to do.

Stepping down. I for one am in a good mood. I like where we are at as a team and I think differing viewpoints are good for discussion....during the time between times of no wrestling.

Wow thanks for setting the bar. I'm in a good mood too. Looking forward to the challenge of Lehigh as opposed to nervous. It feels like a perfect challenge for the team at this moment of the season I just hope CJ is healthy.
