Just wanted to pass along that the NCAA is in the process of announcing at-large bids for each weight class right now. Penn State missed out on automatic qualifiers at three weights (141, 157 and 165) and really, Garett Hammond (165) was the only one who had a real shot at getting a wildcard.
Anyhow, 165 was just announced and Garett Hammond did not receive an at-large. Therefore, Penn State will be sending just seven wrestlers to the national tourney March 19-21 in St. Louis.
UPDATE: 6:30 p.m.
Seeds and brackets have been released for the NCAA championships in St. Louis. Here's how PSU stacks up with seeds and first-round matchups:
125: Jordan Conaway (No. 11) vs. Joaquin Marquez (Citadel)
133: Jimmy Gulibon (No. 7) vs. Scott Delvecchio (Rutgers)
149: Zack Beitz (No. 12) vs. Shawn Greevy (Chattanooga)
174: Matt Brown (No. 2) vs. Pete Renda (NC State)
184: Matt McCutcheon (No. 14) vs. Nick Fiegener (Cal Poly)
197: Morgan McIntosh (No. 2) vs. Zach Nye (Virginia)
