Will be interesting to see how things shake out at WR - don't forget Dotson, who really came on strong at the end. Should be a talented and deep rotation. D looks solid, but what about Brisker at S? I'd like to see a two deep :).

I think Johnson will be the starter but Brooks plays more, similar to Parsons this year. I also think Taylor and Brisker will be the starters. Sutherland and Wade subbing in, with Wade being the nickel in situational schemes.

Still think Miranda is one of the starting 5 on the OL. Menet at C, Miranda at RG.

Is Thorpe a sure thing at DT? I always thought he was better on the Oline. But with the depth I guess it makes sense.

Hopefully Brooks or Luketa play in the middle. Elite teams don’t start a 5th year walk-on.

You mean someone like JJ Watt? Thank God Paterno didn’t have any 4 or 5 star MLBs to start over lowly 2 star Conlan.
Call me crazy, but I say start the one that is the best.

A little nervy starting a RS FR at center, and I think they really like Miranda at RG so I would think Menet stays at C and Miranda at RG?

Also I think Brisker beats out Wade/whomever else to start at S, and Hansard will be first team over Thorpe/Mustipher.

Yeah, I don't think they will want 2 rFR starting at the 2 most important OL positions- LT and Center. I could see Fries at LT and Walker at RT.

Shelton took 53% of the defensive snaps in the bowl game, and that would be higher had he not gone out with an injury. Depending on the extent of his injury, I think he and Windsor are the best bets to start.

Brooks and Sutherland may not be the top recruits, but they seem to have that “ it “ factor in games and look like leaders in waiting.
On defense, I would also not overlook Tarburton. From what little I have seen from him, he also has “ it “. I think his LB instincts are going to give him an added advantage and Oweh will probably benefit from being around his football smarts.

Miranda at RG, Menet stays at C.

Why does anyone think Fries will be at RT??? They just moved our best offensive lineman from LT to RT so he could play LT. He will remain there the next 2 years. Rasheed Walker and wigon will battle at RT.

Cain will not back up Slade, Journey Brown will...Mark it down. Cain will be 3rd string though.

PJ will start beside Windsor, no doubt.

Stevens will definitely start at QB, no question here either.

I am not sure at safety, I hope Wade wins the job but have my doubts and could see the Juco or Sunderland here.

The starting receivers will be Dotson, JJ and Hamler. Shorter will play a lot as the 4th receiver. Calling it now, JJ will have a monster 2019.

I don’t think Bowers can be pencilled in behind little Gronk at tight end, Kuntz might have something to say about that.

I think with the speed and size of Brandon Smith that he will get the Micah Parsons treatment in 2019. He will play a ton and probably be top 2 in tackles. I however think he will take the reps away from Cam Brown in 2019 at OLB. They will find a way to get him on the field and Parsons is locked down on the other side. Luketa and Brooks don’t move like Parsons and Brandon Smith and should remain in the middle.

Simmons and YGM at ends looks nice, Simmons will be really hungry after a tough year. I think the backups will be Oweh and Tarburton. I think they will move past Toney this offseason.

PJ will start beside Windsor, no doubt.

DT:
Kevin Givens – 47 of 57 (82%)
Antonio Shelton - 30 of 57 (53%)
P.J. Mustipher – 15 of 57 (26%)
CJ Thorpe – 15 of 57 (26%)

Shelton was in for twice the snaps as Mustipher in the bowl game. While I love Mustipher's potential, I would think Shelton is a better bet to start the first game based on that playing time split.

That is true but Shelton backs up Windsor and PJ backs up Givens. givens is a 3 technique as is PJ. I can almost guarantee you PJ will be starting beside Windsor.

Agree about Shaka. I like him and he's got a great first step but he's just not big enough. If he had more time I think I would have rather seen him at LBr than Koa.

I think Miranda ends up owning a spot at OG and they keep Menet at C. I also think Mustipher is starting at DT next year. Hansard, Shelton, and Thorpe will add some beef and depth at DT. Hopefully Jordan fully recovers and is the quick twitch guy on the inside for passing downs alongside TGM when they slide him on 3rd and long.

Definitely agree re: Brisker & Dotson, at the least, fighting for starting spots.

If I had to lay $$ now, I'd predict Miranda at one G keeping Menet at C.

I think P.J. starts at DT w/ Windsor. Assuming Hansard is 100% & Culpepper or Hawkins is ready, it's not impossible to move Thorpe back to OG. Seems we've been snake-bitten at DL the last couple of years, maybe the injury bug cuts us some slack in '19

From the top....
- Dotson started at WR after tearing up Fall camp, so he is a logical choice as one of the starting WR's to begin 2019, But a healthy Shorter will make it a nice battle and either way both will pay a lot.
- Walker will have his hands full getting past Gellerstadt and holding off Whigan.
- Scruggs is one the least likely candidates to start on the OL. If anyone displaces Menet at Center is almost surely will be Miranda. And with Holmes at Guard, and both Holmes and Miranda significantly more physically mature than Scruggs, either are more likely OL starters.
- We will know before Spring practice starts if Thorpe will stay at DT, but I'm betting he goes back to OL/Guard and he will also more realistically battle to start on the OL ahead of Scruggs.
- My bet for a starter beside Windsor is Mustopher, or possibly Jordan or Handsard if one or both of them are fully healthy. Shelton started vs UK, but he is a 1-tech and likely not quick enough to replace Givens at the 3-tech position.
- Brown should be a starting LB, along with Parsons and Johnson (until Brooks passes him), but Brown may have to sit out the first half of the Utah game due to his targeting foul in the 2nd half of the UK game.
- I'm also hoping to see Wade continue his development at Safety and Start, but it will be a battle between Wade, Sutherland and Brisker when he arrives at PSU...

Michael Johnson Jr. (for 4 games so he keeps his RS)
Laugh, but I'd like him on 3rd and shorts...his athleticism hasn't been seen at QB since MRob. I doubt he'll see much of anything in year 1, but I think they will find ways to get him on the field in year 2.

On your want it to be...I'd flank Parsons and Smith out side and put Brooks in the middle. Those two can cover some ground and Brooks seems to have a nose for the middle.....both line ups could be realistic. Smith is a freaky athlete similar to Parsons....not sure how they limit him to 4 games next year...just don't see it after watching him play last night.

How about a 3-4 look?

DE: YGM
NT: Windsor/Mustipher
DE: Oweh
OLB: Cam Brown
ILB: Smith
ILB: Brooks
OLB: Micah

I'd blitz Micah and Cam Brown almost every play.....

I agree, though I think Brown, Parsons, and Smith will be the best three linebackers on the roster. I'm really, really interested in the possibility of someone with Smith's length and ability to move sideline to sideline on all three downs patrolling the middle, then have Dixon take over in Brown's spot when he graduates.

When it was Hack they wanted Trace. When it was Trace they wanted Tommy. Now it will be Tommy and they want Clifford. And on and on it goes.
