There was some discussion about Fields, Clifford and Stevens in another thread about weekend visitors. The discussion touch on Fields being interested in UF and discussed the likelihood of JoeMo leaving for an HC job and the depth chart for Fields, Stevens, Clifford. I noticed everyone kind of just completely omitted Zembiec in the discussion.
Its beginning to appear like Zembiec is going to have a really hard time ever seeing the field after reading these comments below from Franklin and with Stevens ahead of him(maybe Fessler too) and Clifford and Fields on the way in.
From Franklin per this article:
"The battle for the third QB spot.
So it's Trace McSorley, then Tommy Stevens, then ... who?
Jake Zembiec, a sophomore on scholarship, would seem to be the obvious choice. But Franklin said that isn't the case.
A couple of walk-ons are still in the running for the No. 3 spot, including Camp Hill grad Michael Shuster.
"I think the other thing for me and (offensive coordinator) Joe (Moorhead) was figuring out who the third quarterback is,'' said Franklin.
"And I don't know if we feel that yet. And that's no disrespect to the guys that we've got.
"I think (Jake) Zembiec and (Michael) Shuster and (Billy) Fessler have done a nice job for us but still think those guys have got to take another step for us to feel like we have three quarterbacks that we can win with."
BWI staff: Obviously we'd like to keep Zembiec within the program but those are some pretty ominous words from Franklin. Perhaps partly said to motivate him but maybe he's just not performing.
What's your take on this situation especially given Franklins comments going into the end of Spring practice. Is Zembiec moving down the depth chart and becoming a potential transfer candidate?
