12 team playoff coming to college football?

This would be great news but not holding breath. Even at 12 not sure it will change anything as the final 4 will be Bama, O$U then take your pick between Clemson, GA, LSU, Okie U$C. ND.

Yeah I’ll believe it when I see it.

Going to happen sooner or later.
Indeed. I think the biggest thing keeping it from happening now is that ESPN would automatically get the extra games as the current media partner. If they expand after the exclusive contract ends, it will be open bidding and it’s likely that at least FOX if not CBS or NBC could get involved. I can’t imagine the Big Ten would be happy if ESPN has total control over an expanded playoff.

ESPN’s deal goes through the 2025-26 season.

I was reading the Eleven Warriors (OSU) website about a week ago and their AD Gene Smith all but assured that an expanded playoffs are in the works which will be great for teams like PSU who has come so close many times

With a 12 team playoff a team could have 12 regular season games, then a conference title game, then three playoff games (if they're one of the top 4 seeds). That's 16 games. And 16 games is ridiculous.

They can keep the college name/affiliation stuff but they really need too just get rid of the "student-athlete" thing since it's becoming more and more ridiculous. Just compensate the players. Give them a choice of compensation and have one of the choices be free schooling, which can take place while they're playing or afterwards.
