125 NCAA

I find it amusing that many of you are throwing dirt on Lee's grave when he has yet to give up an offensive point against him and if you have truly watched his matches this year, you would have seen the strategy of wrestling at the edge of the mat, stepping off when necessary, and basically doing anything possible to not engage. At no point was he ever in danger of giving up a point. That particular strategy was used, and allowed, in last season's championship match and I'm sure is the blueprint for this year. I look forward to the matches with Suriano, Glory, and/or Vito when they won't be looking to just last.
Buddy, time to put your big boy pants on. I didn’t see anyone throwing dirt on his grave and only one poster picked against him. Your post is more dramatic than a bunch of 13 year-old girls at their first school dance. Get a grip, man.

Intentionally dense = dense.
His father works at Coe. OK. So what. I don't suppose any father other than Spencer's found a job so he could be close to his son. Big f'n deal. You act like the University of Iowa told Coe to hire him. Talk about dense. That's why I pointed out there aren't any connections. And Willie thinks you are a rational one? Good lord.

Given how the NCAA seeding committees seem to reward undefeated records, if I were Zeke, I'd sit Courtney against anyone in the top 10.

I wouldn't want to tangle with Suriano or Glory, because those are likely two blemishes on his record.

Similarly, if I were Glory, I'd sit the Cornell-Princeton dual, and medical forfeit out of the EIWA finals.

Call me a cynic, but that's how the game seem to be played.
It’s as if they ding for losses more than they reward for wins.

Where does Spencer's father work?
His father works at Coe - No kidding. What does that have to do with anything? Do you honestly think him getting a job at Coe was influenced by the University of Iowa? Would Penn be told what to do by Penn State? Talk about conspiracy theories!

Just to be clear… If I’m reading this correctly… an Iowa fan is saying other wrestlers were stalling against Iowa

That's rich coming from a Board that reacts to a Missouri fan's comments on the Iowa Board.

Sorry - I have no clue what you are talking about. But I did kind of think that well read wrestling posters who frequent this Board might actually have watched the matches and could see the unwillingness to engage. That just didn't seem to be all that inflammatory.
It’s also true that well read Iowa wrestling fans might have noticed the unwillingness of the refs hand to engage the mat when Eireman was clearly pinned.

Dramatic or objective? You just don't like it. Doesn't make it wrong.
You clearly said, "many" are throwing dirt on his grave. One is not many and THAT is objective, you Drama Queen.

That said, I'm gleefully shoveling dirt on Murin and Young's grave right now. And Brands and Assad aren't even worth discussing.

You missed the part where I said it was a 5-year running joke.

Or did you?

I stand by my previous statement: your being dense is intentional. It's a choice.

Prove me wrong.

Ok, back to the regular scheduled program

I'll try to use my words carefully so I don't "throw dirt' on anyone, or get anyone else's underpants in a bunch.

He who apparently must not be named, will be the 1 seed unless he, dare I say, takes a loss. He is the favorite to win it all as of right now. Regardless of how he looked this weekend. Do I think he looked as dominant as usual, no. Did I expect him to be that dominant given the circumstances, no. Make no mistake, there are guys in the field this year that can beat him.

After thinking on it, I don't think I can answer the original question at this point in the season. There are just too many variables. I'll go through the list of guys I think could be seeded 1-5 and give reasons for each.

He who must not be named I already discussed. And for the record, I am a fan of his.

Courtney - Suriano could miss their dual, and Zeke could sit him against Glory. That makes him a returning finalist, undefeated, and conference champ. Depending on what happens at bigs, could get the one, at worst two if those things occur.

Glory - Will see Vito at least twice, if they both wrestle the dual. Glory could be an undefeated conference champ, but not wrestling last year hurts him IMO. I see him no higher than two.

Vito - Pretty much the same as Glory.

Suriano - Here is the biggest variable. If he wrestles against ASU and wins, he knocks Courtney probably out of the top 4. He's the only one in the BIGs that I can see beating you know who. If he does that, he is the new one seed. If he doesn't wrestle in the ASU dual, and wins BIGs, that could push you know who to the 4, if he loses, he could be 4. The top 3 could be that fella from here that went out there, Courtney at two, an undefeated Glory or Vito, and then Suriano.

I'll see what happens on January 3, and revisit this post. Unless too many people get to into their feels that I don't want to sift through it all, and we'll just argue and dissect the seeds then.

You walked right into this gifery:

Where did I say to anyone you can't criticize? Talk about being thin skinned. And for the intellectually deficient on the east coast, Coe College is a private D-3 level school that has absolutely no connection with the University of Iowa - a state school.
No connection? I thought Coe College was where big-time out of state Hawkeye recruits send their parents for those run of the mill part time quarter a mill jobs.

I vaigly remember a wrestler Lee had previously beat dropping down a weight to face him again, with the objective to deny his chance at being a 4x Champ. Of course Spencer was also lacking an ACL. The kid was of course sucessful, and ripped destiny from Spencer's grasp.

I am not going to say history tends to repeat itself, but I sure as SHIT see some similarities brewing.

Go back to your corn field I've been banned for less on that shit show you call hr
FYI
  • Only been to Iowa once when I flew into Des Moines for my Uncle, a retired priest's (who I was named after) funeral.
  • Born and raised in the WPIAL.
  • Graduated from Penn State in 1985.
  • Annual NLC, PSWC, and NLWC member/donor.
  • Donated to both Frank and David's Olympic fundraising.
  • Penn State wrestling, men's hockey, and football season tickets holder.
I do happen to live near plenty of feed corn fields in Central Maryland, so you were partially right there. Probably about as right as you'll be about Spencer Lee.

Nice return and I do whole heartedly apologize for assuming you were from Iowa that's an insult I just don't throw around lightly lol good day sir

Remember, it's generally considered bad form to speak ill of the dead. I imagine doing so of a dead monsignor who served in the Vatican might even destine one for a long stretch in purgatory (if not worse). ;)
I dont believe in a purgatory but even if I did I refrained because it would have been in bad taste. And dont get me started about what I think of the Vatican. Lol

It will be interesting to see how the committee handles seeding at NCAAs. Assuming Arujau and Glory are undefeated, where do they seed a 1 loss Big Ten runner-up?

An undefeated Courtney would add another wrench in the works. I know he is due to meet Glory in a few weeks but we've seen that certain coaches are not above ducking.

Arujau and Glory being undefeated would be interesting since they have both a dual and EIWAs.

Glory and Lee could face at the new and improved Midlands if Iowa decides to go.
