Has anyone ever heard of a parent hiring a private cleaning service to clean their kid's DORM room?

It's a thing, I swear to god.

Thought?

I'm flabbergasted.

What kind of third rate school is this?!? The really creative schools already include this as part of increasing a student's debt, er, I mean, providing an essential service.

Never heard of it before I read your post, but can't say that it surprises me. If you've seen the accommodations along with amenities that universities are building these days, it's obvious who the target audience is.

Doesn't work that way. Part of the unbundling that universities do so they can charge more for less.

When I was an undergraduate in the middle 50's one of my fellow students had a valet.
He was an American not a Saudi.

The school is William & Mary.

The cleaning service that this mother hired was not affiliated with the school. She just went to
the Internet and hired a service in the town. My daughter noticed this strange woman on her dorm floor and approached one of the kids "hey, I noticed this strange woman going into and out of your room. Is she related to you or visiting". "No, that's just the cleaning lady that my mom hired."

My wife and I were blown away. I googled it and there was a similar controversy at Harvard a few years ago.

Lol, I was saying that tongue in cheek since my niece went to an Ohio school and the service came with the room.

Where in the deep recesses of your mind was THAT one hidden? Well done.
