1994 BEAT DOWN of Iowa - ENJOY

9:22 mark is great. Don't think I've ever seen a play fake out the camerman quite like that.

That was a great team. If coach Paterno left his starters in the entire game he would have scored 100 points. Thank you for the video.

Thanks for posting. Great memories. Nice to see the video of Mike Archie again; one of the "unsung heroes" of that great offense.
And great to see those now "primitive" graphics from the Deuce.
And the views of Hayden Fry are priceless.

It's good to remember how good that team was. Carter got all the pub, but Archie really had great moves and made defenders miss. Archie made more defenders miss in that game than all our current RB's have done through 5 games. And I don't mean that as a disrespect to the great group of young running backs we now have.....

Just to show PSU animosity the next yr. Iowa's coach Hayden Fry said the '95 OSU offense (Hoying, Eddie George) was the best he had seen in the conference ever. PSU (94) scored 10 more points a game than the Bucks of '95. Maybe they shouldn't have let off after 42-7 against the Hawks.

Here's a fun fact.

That Ohio State team scored 30 or fewer points SIX times.

The 1994 Penn State team scored 30 or fewer points ZERO times.

Good call, Hayden.

That 1994 game was an epic win over Ohio State but it was a very different time. Michigan was the better program back then and OSU was very good but not great. It wasn't until Tressel had been there for a few years that OSU became an annual contender

I do not understand the comment that OSU's 1995 offense was the best ever. Literally nobody thinks this. Eddie George was a legendary player but they did not even win the Big Ten, I don't think.

As good as that team was, the 1969 team was better. College and pro football HOF people on offense and defense. 30 straight Ws. A young Paterno coaching them.

On the Purdue telecast they had a list of the five greatest Lions of all time. Names like Ham, Harris, Cappy and Barkley. They somehow failed to name Mike Reid.

Reid was the greatest Lion of them all. Team captain. A DT who dominated games.

Now, get off my lawn!

In my view, it's another example of a Big Ten traditionalist throwing shade at the east coast new kid on the block. It also explains why Big Ten area voters voted heavily for Nebraska in 1994 rather than their own conference team.

I believe some Ohio voter ranked Ohio State above Penn State AFTER that 63-14 beatdown.

IIRC, Northwestern won the conference after Ohio State gave up about ~310 rushing yards to Tim Biakabatuka and choked away their title in the season finale. That was NW's magical year that began with their upset of Notre Dame, IIRC.

Ohio State followed that Michigan loss by putting up a whopping 14 points against Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl.

I think in '95, Ohio State was #1 going into the final game at Michigan. Tim Biakabatuka (sp) ran for just over 300 yards vs. them that day and upset them, setting the stage for Nebraska to win the MNC almost uncontested. Nebraska '95 was far better than Nebraska '94 or Ohio State '95 anyway, and deserved the title THAT season. PSU '94 was of course far better than Nebraska '94.

My buddies and I took in a double-header that day.... we were going to the PSU at Mich. State game, which was a 3:30 start. The Ohio State game in Ann Arbor was a noon kick. We bought scalper tickets for the Ohio State game, got to enjoy that, and left early in the 4th qtr when Michigan was in total command to drive the 60 miles to East Lansing to get to our game. One of the guys drove perhaps a tad over the speed limit ( :)), and we got there in about exactly an hour, got into the game just after the first TD was scored. The capper was that we thought we had found a great parking spot very close to the stadium, with no one checking parking because the game had started. In our haste we did not realize we had parked on a sidewalk next to a tennis court. No problem.... no ticket after the game, and by the time we started the van to leave, there was a line of cars waiting behind us!

That was the game where Wally hit Engram for a 4 yard TD with 4 seconds to play to win it, 24-20. Engram dove into the end zone underneath a tangle of legs to score. Great game. We saw a double-header for the ages!

I will also say that the pure hatred and animosity between Buckeyes fans and Weaselrine fans was real. Wow. Sportsmanship took a holiday for sure.
