I haven't trashed any victims. Since I haven't trashed any victims, I can't say one way or another whether trashing victims helps or doesn't help reforming the Child Welfare System, which I haven't made any comment about. Since I haven't made any comment on the CWS, it can't be said whether I care or don't care about it. I can't speak for anyone else's opinions on the reform of the Child Welfare System.

Please do tell again how PSU fans being proud of JVP and his Grand Experiment caused the State of Pennsylvania to allow Sandusky to adopt six children, provide Foster Parenting to scores of children, establish his own personal State Licensed Charity, etc... over almost a 5 decade relationship between Sandusky and the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare (now DHS - Department of Human Services)??? All of Sandusky's supposedly-philanthorpic, State-Regulated efforts for the purpose of accessing children to sexually abuse -- IOW, enable Sandusky's modus opperandi for abusing children via the State's imprimatur? Complete and utter joke to claim that PSU, PSU Football fans, JVP or PSU Football had anything to do with or "caused" any of these massive failures within the State of Pennsylvania that "enabled" Sandusky and his depredations. Hey, I'm all about reforming the Child Welfare System as I've mentioned many times. However, I don't see how victim bashing, cheering Ziggy on when he goes through their garbage, etc helps that cause. Also, why would the system need to be reformed if nothing happened and the victims are all a bunch of liars, as the Free Jerry people (who apparently don't exist) claim?

PSULion2001, There is a huge difference between "bashing victims" and requesting that anyone claiming CSA be thoroughly vetted.

Maybe he lied to get money or not, but he never once testified at Jerry's trial. Victims sticking by their accusers as adults and then flipping on them isn't anything new, but you keep trying to make it a point like this is the end all.
It's not the be all end all, but all of that flipping happened when he was a full fledged adult that was scheduled to testify for defense and then flipped within days when the checkbook opened and a lawyer got to him.
Your point about victims flipping is worthwhile but Matt Sandusky is a HORRIBLE example for the case you make.
I see your point on the 70's accusers we have heard about. But you really don't think that if Sandusky was an expoiter/abuser of kids that he started for the first time in 199-something?
Can't be sure when it started and wouldn't be surprised at all if it started earlier, but those 70's accuser stories dragging Paterno into it are lying and there is zero doubt in my mind about that aspect of it. Preposterous. Surely you agree?
I tend to agree. I wouldn't be super shocked to learn that those accusations had elements of truth to them . We'll never know so I don't worry about it much.
I would be 1000% shocked about the Paterno aspect and most other aspects of those stories. Bernie McCue is involved, so do the math. Those cases do a severe injustice and undermine the real victims. That PSU wrote checks for those cases is beyond mindboggling.

From reading about this type of abuser, he probably started long before the 90s but not at the level he was at when he was finally sent to prison. Some of the behavior was probably legal but on the creepy level at first. He'd gain trust and then push the boundaries. Gain more trust and push the boundaries again. His victims generally did love him. He was a smart, manipulative guy and he actually did care about his victims. Who knows when he first went over the line but when he got away with it, he obviously wanted more. This wasn't something he developed overnight. It was a long gradual process to become what he is now. The grooming process and the grooming of those around him to fool them is the scariest thing. Child molesters generally don't stand out. And why would they.. who goes around talking or showcasing that?
