2018 Recruiting Thread

Is Parsons really committed to Penn State? I thought he was reopening his commitment and taking visits... was he doing the old "I'm still committed, but want to take all of my visits" routine? I do recall him tweeting "WE shocked the world" after Penn State beat tOSU this season. So maybe he is committed, but I just mentally placed him in the opening up his recruiting situation. I think you almost have to do that if a kid decides as early as Parsons did and then says he wants to take visits.

They are in the game, so I'm sure they are used to this kind of stuff. There's probably stuff that goes on behind the scenes that we don't even know about, for better or worse. But I'm sure the staff does have it all figured out.

Bingo. Although I have to zero in on two things: "Probably" and "Know about."

Respectfully, CFB is a staggeringly profitable and growing business and one of the biggest the x-factors is recruiting. Strategy and control of information are huge and obvious factors in that game.

And they're in the game, while most of us are on the outside. It's more accurate to say there's definitely way more than we'll ever catch a whiff of -- even years after the fact. Who knows what the staff has all figured out, but they're doing a good job of competing in the game.

Money is the prize. The coaches and (unpaid) players are the means. We're the sheep.

I realize we're basically making the same point and I'm nitpicking, but I guess I couldn't resist.

FYI - His CB is listed as 100% Penn State.

PERSONAL: Is the son of former Penn State and NFL defensive back Leonard Humphries

Hope those are good indications. ;)

Two CBs in the last few weeks (one being Fitz) and a lot of positive chatter.

Slade and Humphries, come on down!

It's too bad we don't have any history with or ties to the family...

Speaking of which, I wonder why we haven't seen one of the many Colins boys produce a D1 caliber football player?

Haha... Agree about the Collins guys Ranger Dan. We had a really nice string of successes when we had one or more Collins guys on the team.

Dearly departed Penn State blog site owner and longtime BWI (and pre-BWI) contributor CBOT/Kevin (Kevin Stone) use to joke around about that. In years without a Collins on the team, we needed to have a talented player listed as the "Designated Collins Player."

Ricky Slade twitted: "I think I'm ready."

A pick axe is Ricky's twitter emoji. There's a photo of Moorhead holding a pick axe in the locker room after beating Wiscy. Coincidence? Separate meaning? Message to Slade? Or was the pick axe the symbol for the offense's hard work this year? I don't know.

Raines, Young and Humphries...all highly rated Safeties. Anyone have insight on actual position they project act? I'm hoping diff safety spots

They are all athletes with Raines being the biggest at 6-3 190 as a 16 y/o. I could see him at OLB. Young seems fast enough to play Corner too. Not sure on Humphries

Take a look at 247, 199. I edited my post, misread the 7:05 time. The twit is dated Dec.21. I don't know how to read those twit things. The words I quoted were accurate with his emoji and all.

I saw those numbers. He doesn't look that big in the photo, but I guess they can be deceiving.
