2018 Recruiting Thread

Can you imagine Urban and Saban doing that with a recruit???? Not! Saw all the pics and seemed very genuine. Franklin has given this kid a very long leash and it appears as if he is beginning to reel him back in. We'll see but that's a great sequence of pics.

Saw a few that switched their pick to foggy for Justin Fields...not that it's significant to PSU but thought it was interesting....Wiltfong switched Solomon Enis to foggy also

A couple of weeks ago there was an article speculating that OSU could get; Smith, Parsons and Oweh. Given URBZ recruiting prowess
it seemed plausible. I thought we'd get Oweh if Smith and Parsons sign with OSU. Do we now have a shot at all three? I think Parsons
can be a lb on defense and a fb/h-back on offense. A little like UCLA used Miles Jack and Owen Marecic at Stanford a few years ago.

My son and I had the opportunity to sit in EE row U yesterday. When I asked who normally sat there, I was told players' families. This was from grandpa Gillikin. During the end of 3rd and all of 4th quarters, we moved up a row to get chair backs that had emptied.
A group of college aged ladies were sitting in front of us and during a TV timeout in the 4th Q, the 4-5 of them began waving as Coach Moorhead stood looking to the crowd. He then saw and waved back to them.
After the game, they went to hang out with Parsons and the others who were with him. Not sure if the young ladies were Moorhead family, but they were showing a lot of love to Parsons.

I met them (93 grandparents) yesterday said they love how friendly and kind all the fans are. They're from Sarasoto Fla now, not Georgia. Anyway Penn State tailgating the most fun a man can have with his clothes on. Still the same, crazy fun!

Penn State football has interns that are all pretty good looking college girls. Pretty much used for when recruits are on visits to show them around and make sure they have a good time. Yes, they have very attractive girls for these intern positons for obvious reasons. You should have heard some of the things that Quinn Nordin used to say to some of the interns.

"Wanna sleep over with Coach Harbaugh?"

Miles, saw that group of young ladies escorting recruits to mid-field during pregame to meet Coach Franklin. The girls in front of us were not in khaki shorts and dress polos. These ladies were dressed like your average college students.

Now, the young lady that did get my 17-year old and his buddy's attention was walking around in a t-shirt with sleeves cut off and the sides cut down to look like my son's weight lifting shirt - the sides open from shoulder to waist. Oh, and she was not wearing any undergarment! She left nothing to the imagination. You get a lot of commitments from recruits if she was helping!!

I have a lousy imagination. Could you please elaborate?

Many, many young ladies sporting that fashion trend yesterday, thank God for warm weather. Unless they're your own teenage daughters and I have 3 of them.

FLAGS ALL OVER THE FIELD

Andrew Lind of 11 Warriors, moments ago, changed his Crystal Ball, to Micah Parsons to Penn State. Interesting. I'm not certain that this is an indication of a guarantee of any type for PSU, but more and more I'm getting the strong impression that Meyer may in fact have closed the door.

I just wonder now if that door will open up again in HV. Time will tell.

Well, time will tell about Franklin's door, but Meyer's door, I think is closed and locked. The irony of all this, is that of course Harbaugh's door is not only always open, but He'll show up at YOUR door with a sleeping bag

Sean Fitz is reporting Pinegar left his game last night with a knee injury and might be out for the season.

So, what are the feasible options here with our offer and his verbal? Do we end up with two kickers on scholarship who may not see the field next year? Need to find a walk-on?

There are three options with Pinegar: 1) honor the offer; 2) pull it; or 3) agree with him to delay his enrollment until his rehabilitation is complete and cross our fingers that he comes back as good.

Parsons, Oweh, Smith, Fields & Walker... will make it 28. We need to get back down to 25.

1) Fields comes in and i'm assuming Levis will likely bolt. (still at 23)
2) Butts goes Prep. (now at 22)
3) Pinegar takes a grey to rehabilitate his leg. (now at 21)
4) Leaves room for 4: Parsons, Oweh, Smith & Walker.

Boom! I should be on the recruiting staff!

A big LOL at my assumptions.

There is really no easy solution on this one. Not much history or data points on kickers coming back from ACL injuries. His kicking days could literally be over.

Fitz with the big crystal ball this morning for Tyreke Smith to PSU

Very nice MilesBarkley. Tyreke would be a great "first" get for PSU, from the three contenders.

Hope he doesn't wait too long. Plus, if Tyreke announces for PSU to the coaches, let's hope his verbal will be solid as a rock on the defensive line.

Smith is still going to take his visits so doubtful he verbals until after the season at Under Armour game.

The delay in the announcements of Oweh, Parsons and Smith is a double edged sword but probably helps the staff look at the space issues and explore all options for how space can be freed up. These are not the types of players you say no to if they want to jump on board.

Even if we do not land Smith. You can see the tide changing with Franklin when it comes to recruiting Ohio. Started a year or so ago when CJF started going into Ohio more for recruits such as Clifford, Miranda, etc.

He is now going into Ohio for the bigger names.

Ohio State was always a lock for 99% of these kids out of Ohio. Whoever Ohio State wanted from Ohio, they got.

CJF is putting up fights for these big 4 and 5 star recruits and making them think long and hard about their decision. He is landing visits from these kids and pushing their decisions back closer to NSD. Urban and staff now have to spend more resources and effort to try and get these kids to sign with OSU than in the past. Prior, these kids would get that home state OSU offer their junior year and shut their recruitment down. Even if we don't land most of these kids still, CJF is now causing OSU to put more time, effort, and resources into their recruitment. As many of you know with college athletics, recruiting is a huge amount of time that can take away from weekly game planning during the season and other tasks that Urban and company may have less and less of as CJF continues to press Ohio.
