2018 Recruiting Thread

And what was this numb-nuts saying in 2012 when Reeves, Schutt, Williams and O'Connor flipped from PSU to O$U? I'm sure then it was a "good decision" and they all had "character" and definitely were not "divas"!? I'm sure he also wasn't embarrassed for their parents.

Sounds like someone feels spurned and can't understand why in the world someone would not want to play at THEE Ohio State University.
Add to your comment that Joe's age was always used against him, when those tables turn it sucks.
As for the southern schools the weather angle is gone.

Defense starts with DTs. Would be a great get for the staff.
Would he be a DT as well? That would make 4 in this class. I know he is listed at DT, but has the same measurables (more or less as Tyreke), so maybe we are looking at him as a Smith replacement option at DE?

He didn't mention their names. He can't yet. That list of names was editorialized in the tweet.
I was referring to Bodani, not Franklin. Since Oweh isn't announcing publicly until Jan. 4, I know Franklin wouldn't let it slip. There was noise that Oweh was going to sign, but announce later. Doing so would lead some to figure it out. I was wondering if anyone knew if Oweh had signed.

Good point. I hadn't considered that. I was just checking around after your post and see him listed as both a T and DE. Saw some of his OT highlights and he seems to move real well.

Phil just said Tyler Friday is back in play and expects him to officially visit PSU after the dead period is over.
Yes, someone mentioned that last week...;)

Assuming there would be spot, watch out for Friday.
Yes! Assuming he's not signing Wednesday I think he'll be the biggest target we chase Dec 20th to Feb 7th. Assuming there is a spot for him.

EDIT: forgot Oweh wasn't signing early, he'd be the biggest followed by Friday.

He's got great flexibility. Could be a big DE or a 3 tech DT. If he makes it to the league hes a 5 tech 3-4 guy

I’m ignorant on the Tyler Friday story other than he’s a highly rated DT.
Would someone post some info? Please. TIA.
He's always been a Franklin target. Very similar to Brooks last year, Franklin stays on guys even if they aren't the top of his board in case something happens (what's nice is they're usually 4*s themselves). Friday surprised some people about a month ago when he said Penn State was probably recruiting him the hardest. We had Smith and Oweh, and Parsons to the degree he may go back to DE, ahead of him on our board. Smith seems like he will go to OSU, so Friday is getting much more attention now.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: Not to be lost on the situation is that Urban Meyer is also chasing him, so making things tougher on him elsewhere is never a bad idea. Also gives us the opportunity to pull the top 3 kids out of Jersey.

The fact that Franklin was yelling into the mike their need for a DE indicates to me he probably hasn't yet. Franklin did say that there would be some more signings in the next day or so. Probably Enis, maybe Oweh.

It’s cutesy for cutesy sake. MLB. Done.

I think it's mainly done to help limit the verbage used in play calling. For instance, Mike blitz is much easier to say in a play call than middle linebacker blitz.

I get it - I just ain’t a fan.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Oweh has already committed to us today, and Coach Franklin shouting WE NEED DE’S is a way to keep things secret.

Thanks for the link. Franklin said this year's class is one of the highest signed by Penn State in terms of GPA and SAT scores. Very nice.
You forgot to remind us that Penn State has a culture problem. I'll let it go this time and not a sign that you are slipping.

Ok. Who has the honor to do post 10000?

It’s almost time, and it’s a milestone worth bragging on.

Good luck everyone.

So I guess this means that Oweh did not sign today as expected. Maybe he waits until Friday? Or is Franklin trolling.
Or he could be sending a not so overt message to Smith that if you want in, your still welcome, but the door ain't gonna stay open forever.

Its especially interesting considering where the 2018 PSU class is ranked in relationship to another B1G school in the not yet completed first early signing period in CFB history.

He also gave an indication that he expects at least another signee tomorrow or Friday. I found that interesting.

Wow! I was in meetings all morning and couldn't pull out my phone to check the signings. Around lunch time I broke out, ran to my office computer...and Parsons!!

I'm very surprised and very happy this kid is a Lion. I think he'll be a hell of a player and a good citizen at PSU. Welcome to the family, Micah!

I've watched his highlights a couple of times. Looks like a man child out there. CJF said that they're going to throw him in at MLB in the spring. HUDL lists him at 6' 3" 241 with a 4.66 forty. If that's accurate, he's about the same size as Luke Kuechly. Just a point of comparison for size with respect to, if not the best, one of the top MLBs in the NFL.

Absolutely. I was telling someone at work today that he reminds me of Arrington in that regard. I went to the Big 33 game the year Arrington played in it to check him out. I was laughing out loud...he looked like a grown man playing against children. Parsons is the same. 'Usual' high school kids just bounce off of him and he acts like they're not even there.

This early signing period has brought forth a new class of recruit. The silent LOI, not to be confused with the silent verbal, this allows head coaches to play all sorts of mind games with fans, media, and above all, other uncommitted recruits.

If nothing else, could be Enis, could be Oweh, could be Friday could be someone else from out of no where. Patience is a virtue, which most us have little of.

Trust me when I say, Luke Kuechly is not 6’-3” nor is he close to 240 lbs. I’ve seen him in person.
