2018 Recruiting Thread

If you guys listen to Ross Tucker on the keystone recruiting podcast, he has amazing things to say about Fields. He doesn't understand how he is not a 5* recruit based off his tape. He says he has a canon of an arm with great accuracy, along with being a long striding athlete.
Ross and I went to the same high school. We've met, good guy, smart

Do you know Craig Fitzgerald also? Ross talked on the show about how they grew up together and were best friends at each other's wedding.

I think Fields also had a 4.2 shuttle. Very good for a 220lb kid.

QB Justin Fields up to #109 in the new Rivals 250. PSU has 5 of the Top 110.

13. Micah Parsons - DE - Harrisburg, PA - Harrisburg
59. Zack Kuntz - TE - Camp Hill, PA - Camp Hill
91. Patrick Freiermuth - TE - North Andover, MA - Brooks School
105. Justin Shorter- WR - Monmouth Junction, N.J. - South Brunswick
109. Justin Fields - QB - Kennesaw, Ga. - Harrison
Wow. Justin Fields ranked #109 nationally and #21 in the state. Georgia must be even more loaded than normal this year.

I see 17 -18 additional players in the top 150 next year that we are gong after. I think we can get three of them due to schools and/or current situation.

The one area that looks lean in quality next year is OL. Not seeing too many highly recruited players that are in our territory. I guess Coach Lime will have to build them up to 4 and 5 star players.

We have Bleich and I like where we stand with Scruggs. In MD I like where we stand with Gregory (who has yet to get an offer) and Walker. Duncan from MD might be more of an OSU lean but we are battling.

I look for CJF to pull an OL out of oh-high-ya, like he did with Miranda in the 2017 class. Wasn't Scott, OH #14, at PSU a few times?

EMERSON OFFERED
Penn State offered another stud 2018 defensive lineman on Wednesday. Greg Emerson (Jackson, Tn.) is the nation's 39th-ranked overall player and 3rd-ranked strong-side defensive end according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking. His other offers include Alabama, Clemson, USC, Ohio State, Tennessee and Georgia.

I realize that regarding players moving on after the 2017 season it's impossible to predict at this point, but from a current roster review perspective that takes into account what is known about the 2017 class, has anyone estimated how many scholarships will likely be available for the 2018 class?

From what I have seen the 2017 class pretty much will address the current roster's positions that are short on numbers (especially if CJF can get a 4th LB in the class), together with the 2 TE's already committed for 2018, so I'm expecting the 2018 class to be a pretty normal distribution position wise going forward. 3 or 4 OL, 3 or 4 DL, 2 or 3 LBs......

I'm pretty sure I made a post about it like a page back, but it's 15. Lots of potential leave early 2018 guys.
